Kinda shocked, but I'm proud of him. He's partially colorblind, which will supposedly keep him out of any combat roles, so that's good. He's also taken plenty of college level math and science, so his aptitude should be pretty high and he could get a relatively kush job and quick advancement.

Needs time in service and time at e4 grade, then has to be boarded. 26 months minimum IIRC. Not too hard if he keeps his stuff in order.

he has to be an E3 for at least six months just to hit waivers. Then he needs 18 months time in service to hit the waiver for E5, but a lot of units pretty much make two years mandatory unless you just hooah hooah it out by going through lots of schools (Airborne, Sere, Ranger, Air Assault, WLC, etc) and they want to promote you faster. It also depends on his MOS and how many points are required for promotion in that MOS. 11 bang bang promotion points are typically on the lower end of the scale and his civilian education points will really help him out there. Just make sure his recruiter doesn't screw him over and he gets the E3 from the get go. I know a lot of people who were promised E2 and E3 and started out fuzzies (E1s). It's a shame he was so close to finishing college. He could've went enlisted as an E4, or even applied to OCS.

Yeah he's a bright kid. I'm sure he'll get there.

He was just completely burned out on what he was doing, unfortunately he was too far in and couldn't take a term off to straighten out.

I think he's planning on airborne.

Schools are comparitively easy to get in the Infantry world, with college he should have no problem getting the points, they will be minimum more often than not.

tell him, to "keep his feet and knees, together"
and he should start running a minimum of 2 miles a day, and doing pull ups

Is he in the Marines or Air Force? I left for Kyrgyzstan 3 weeks ago. Everybody in and out of Afghan goes through this Manas transit center. Just wondering.

He's getting him ready for Airborne School specifically, but I'm sure he'll get plenty of training for it going to Basic at Benning. I had it made, I was at Relaxin' Jackson.
