with the Army just yesterday. Dropped out of school, signed up without telling anyone and sprang it on the family.

Kinda shocked, but I'm proud of him. He's partially colorblind, which will supposedly keep him out of any combat roles, so that's good. He's also taken plenty of college level math and science, so his aptitude should be pretty high and he could get a relatively kush job and quick advancement.

I'll post up when he's off to boot. Hope everybody here could wish him the best. Thanks.

Wish I could... I looked into it very seriously a year ago but I've already got somewhat severe knee issues, and my feet are flat as pancakes. I can't walk more than 4 or so miles without my knees turning raspberry red and getting knots in the middle of my arches the size of walnuts.

Good luck to him, Milo.

Was he in his last semester of his senior year?

My brother's in Afghanistan. Finally heard from him yesterday after almost 3 weeks. Hectic time for my family, for sure. Good luck to him.

good luck to him, but I would temper his expectations on advancement without a HS Dipolma..The promotion boards take education level into consideration for promotion

NCO slots can be hard to come by in the REMF world too. Id definately look into a GED program though.

Tell him good luck and have fun.

Very true. But he can use TA to get his GED pretty quickly. And then a lot of his training can convert to college credits as he goes to different schools and moves up the ranks.

I assumed what he was doing was post high school.

That said, best of luck to him.

He finished HS when he was 17 and was nearly a senior in college. He's 20 now.
