I remember Al's senior year at JCM. He had 1100 yards on 78 total carries! He made the tailback...Wesley Barlow...look like an All American!

Al Wilson used to point at who was getting destroyed next, and then do exactly what the hell he said he was going to do.

Why is AL not on the ring of fame? I urge everyone to write the AD to have AL properly recognized for his accomplishments. Without AL, 1998 NC DOESN'T HAPPEN AT ALL!!!!!

My all time favorite Vols are: Donte Stallworth, Albert Haynesworth, Leonard Little, and Travis Henry. All are quality citizens as well.

growing up it was Andy K., Carl Pickens, Shuler, Little Man Stewart, Charlie Garner. Then I moved on to big Al, Peyton, Nash, Kent, Knock Knock Raynoch, Leonard, etc.

Al was a freakin head hunter! Not only was he dominant but he made those around play harder (or else) :)

I've said this many times, without Al Wilson and Jeff Hall, we do not win the NC in 98 period!

That video rocks, my favorite vol video by far, it gets me so fired up.

One of the things that separates those guys from the vols nowadays (- #14) is that they were on the field to actually hurt people and their souls. The intensity they brought was unmatched. They had the dick butkus mindset that defensive players need, "if your gonna bring the ball down my field, im going to hurt you". I vaguely remember al wilson from his JCM days (I was little) and I even remember then, he was so intense.

He is my all time favorite vol. We need more like him

I know there have been some great ones at UT, but Al Wilson is my all-time favorite. He played with passion and without fear. He was also a smart middle linebacker. We have missed having a middle linebacker like him. That isn't to put down any that have played linebacker since him, but he was just a special player.

Not many players would call out Peyton, but he did at the halftime of the SEC Championship game in 1997. I remember hearing a story about him telling Manning he needed to start playing like an All-American at the half of that game. It was also said he told the team he was going out to win the game and that anyone who didn't want to play to win, they could just stay in the locker room.
