My 2010 top defenses in sec. Vols 5th

3rd straight SECW Champs, 2nd straight SEC title and a possible 2nd straight BCSNC. Disappointment will abound.:)

You might be one of the biggest homers I've ever seen.

Alabama had one of the better defenses in the SEC in the last 10 years, and you think this unit, with 9 new players, will be better?

You don't lose your top 3 corners, 2 of them in the first 2 rounds, and get better. Sorry.

Alabama could still win all those things you mentioned, IDK, but the defense won't be statistically better than last year.

I'm 100% positive.

UT's defense will be ranked 1 or 2 by season's end. So many players poised for a breakout season that it's hard to predict who will be our best player.

UT has one DT worth a damn. If they end #1 or #2 in the SEC in total defense then Wilcox should start a traveling magic show, because he'd be a damn magician.

Well the main problem was that your linebackers and dbs are soft and cant tackle which is hard to blame on the defensive coordinator.
those kids practiced according to what Martinez preached.....for 2/3 years. It's insane to say the defensive coordinator isn't to blame for their shortcomings. you will see a different attitude on defense from Georgia this year which should translate into better all-around play on that side of the ball. soft my a$$.

Marlon Walls will be more than adequate lining up beside M. Hughes.

9 of the last 19 games giving up 34 plus points....SOFT!!!

What does your depth look like behind them? Who are their backups? Because they won't be able to play every snap.

That depends on who responds best during fall drills. Though I don't believe we'll have any of the back-ups playing at an All-SEC level, I do feel that with R. Sykes, S. Fowlkes, C. Nelson, A. Jeffery, J. Brown, and G. Clark; we should get adequate play from 2 or 3 of them. And don't be surprised to see M. Jackson move inside from time to time if needed for depth.

He'll be better than Montori??

Not knocking Brown, but have you ever seen him play or are you just basing this on nothing as usual?

I think they will both be goos solid players but advantage brown. Im not sure why exactly you think he wont be better than hughes.

We haven't seen Brown perform against SEC competition yet. It's not easy to come into this league and be "good" on the line. Montori proved he is good. Brown hasn't yet. It's simple

Im basing it on the fact that he was signed by florida where he failed out. He went down to juco and dominated is coming here as a very highly thought of and sought after player.

Another gem.

Do you know how players get their names out to be "sought after"?

John Brown is the biggest waste of talent ever.

First, some rocks are smarter than he is.
Second, he had "motor" issues and took plays off.
Last, he never practiced well, even when he could get on the field enough to practice without academics getting in the way.

Hughes is way better. Brown is the total embodiment of the term "recruiting bust."

I'd wait to see him on the field before making such a strong assessment. Though I don't expect that he'll be better than M. Hughes, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him pushing to take over M. Walls at the other DT spot by season's end.

With those 3 leading the way at DT, and talented depth at DE, this season's DL could turn out to be quite a dominating one.
