MVP and ROTY

Who is the NFL's Most Valuable Player?

I agree and I kind of fear he will cost RGIII a few votes. And a few votes will likely be all the difference in the world.

If I had a ballot mine would be as follows;

1. Russell Wilson (Huge Wilson fan)
2. RGIII
3. Alfred Morris
4. Andrew Luck

that same team that won 2 games last year was consistently winning 10+ games a year with Manning. Luck threw 90 bazillion passes, in which only 45 bazillion were caught and 20 bazillion of them were interceptions. Throwing lots of yards when all your team does is pass shouldn't be considered an accomplishment. His QBR is one of the worst in the league, going into today no one had thrown more INTs, and he barely completes 50% of his passes. His stats really aren't that good.

So is Griffin better than Brees? 670 attempts, 19 INTs. What about Matt Ryan? 615 attempts, 14 INTs. Andy Dalton? 528 attempts 16 INTs. Peyton Manning? 583 attempts 11 INTs

What does that have to do with ROTY? Oh yeah, nothing.

Everything, since all you all want to do is look at attempts and INTs.

Is that all I looked at? No, far from it. Learn to read. Also, none of the players you compared RG3 to are competing for ROTY. So basically, it means nothing.

I'd give Adrian Peterson the MVP. The Vikings were garbage last year. The broncos won a playoff game last year with a different quarterback.

But AP was on that team. The reason the Vikings did better is because he improved, and because the D improved. Last year they won 1 game holding the opposition to 14 or less. This year they won 6 games like that.

If you are saying AP deserves all the credit for their improved success, then he should also win most improved player and DPOY

That doesn't take away from him being the most valuable player on any one team. Did Peyton have a great season? Yes. was AP's season more important to his team? Without a doubt.

Adding Manning improved the Broncos by 5 games. When you're 8-8 there's not as much room for improving. Going from 2 wins to 7 wins is pretty good. Going from 8 wins to 13 is HUGE.

That sounds like communism? So it's based on his team's needs? To me the MVP is the guy that has proven to have the most value. It's not the guy whose team relies on him the most.

2003, Jamal Lewis rushes for 2066 yards and 14 TDs leading the Ravens to a 10-6 record while Manning and McNair tied for Co-MVP. Not saying it's right (definitely not, considering McNair won after missing 2 games, and his team won both), but if voters are consistent, you shouldn't expect AP to win.

Voters aren't consistent, though, and AP is the candidate to be excited about right now.

Getting to play an incredibly easy schedule helps in that department too. Only five games against playoff teams and they went 2-3. It must be awful playing KC, Oakland and San Diego twice each. Throw in tough games like Cleveland, Tampa and Carolina and whew, it is a wonder that Denver even went .500

How is that communism? Tebow led the broncos to the afc west title last year. Peterson was a one man show in the very tough NFC North and got the Vikings in the playoffs. He clearly has more value to his team than Peyton.

Denver lost to teams like that consistently last year, and they add Manning and blow those same teams out. Nice argument.

Doesn't take away that those teams suck. Hey, petition beat really crappy teams with him, his receivers and his good defense. He's MVP!

Tampa doubled up on Minnesota. Isn't Tampa one of the teams you just slammed?

One loss. How did your beloved broncos do against teams that matter? Oh yeah, they lost. The Vikings found ways, namely this guy named Adrian Peterson, to beat San Francisco, green bay and Houston. Remind me again what Peyton did against Houston?

Because you're basing it on his team's needs, and not his overall value. "Each according to their needs...."

Based on how they are playing this season what happens if you add Manning to all the teams with average QBs, and add AP to all the teams with average RBs? Who gives their squads a bigger boost? If you say AP then you are blind to the sport because by nature QB is more valuable. MVP is not a fair award because nobody on offense can provide more value than the best QBs. It's just not happening.

AP can win because voters are inconsistent, but there is no way AP can improve teams like Manning can.

They kicked the trash out of Baltimore. The Broncos had the toughest schedule through the first 5 games, and little experience together. You think the Broncos would lose to the Texans today?

We just might get to find out.

They should actually move away from the MVP award, and have "most outstanding".

There is no way AP can provide the value Manning does. AP gets 5 carries, 25 yards, and 2 first downs, and then he comes out for 2 downs, and comes back in with his team facing 3rd and long....then they punt. Manning, however, is in every offensive play, and keeps the chains moving. It's not even fair to compare them as far as "value" goes, but if that's what the award is, then that's the way it should go.

It's gonna be tight. AP is getting way more media attention

So let me get this straight. Peyton turns a team without a winning record the previous year into a team that is tied for the best record IN ALL OF THE NFL and AP with the help of the Giants and the Bears self destructing make the playoffs while rushing for about 30 yds more than Jamal Lewis who along with Eric Dickerson did not win the MVP award deserves to be called the most valuable player of the national football league? Makes perfect sense.

The Vikings won 3 games last year and with Peterson's turn around this year (about 1200 more yards this year than last) they won 10. Yeah, he definitely deserves to the most valuable player of the national football league. Get a clue.
