If we are 5-6 and this team loses to Vandy, and they go bowling while we sit at home, it will not be pretty around here.
No it wont.
But many will soon forget that 5-7 was right around where most thought they would be.

That's true. If our only east win is against Mizz, i don't think the preseason expectation of 5-7 will be of much comfort.

I have predicted 5-7 but with the Auburn win, I changed my prediction to 6-6 and bowl game
Now, for a long term prediction, I see us being like Ky and taking years to get respectable again or we do,very well and once we hit our peak, Pruitt will take a job elsewhere
I don't see us failing on a long term basis. Slow improvement as the years go by

It doesn't look like a bowl year for these scrappy Vols, to state the obvious. Gonna hafta to win 2-3 vs Ky, Mo, and Vandy at Vandy. Odds of that happening are about 1 out 5 in my estimation. Still it could happen , but it is more likely that we win 1 ( I think we will be an underdog all 3 games) . The Auburn win was big - Butch never beat a team from the west. So, we end at 5-7, which is what most rational people predicted last summer. JP has done a decent job, not thrilling but good. There is reason to hope for better times ahead.
As a Bama fan, I have no dog in this fight. However it seems to me that the problem is a bit more straight forward than winning 2-3 from KY, MO, and Vandy. I can't imagine this Vol team losing to Vandy, and they most certainly should beat Charlotte. That leaves them with needing one more win. Since I believe this KY team is better than UT this season, that leaves Missouri. If I'm right about the rest of my predictions, the game with Mizzou makes, or breaks the season. I watch a lot of football, and believe that UT, MO, and USCe are three evenly talented, coached teams. UT just blew a good chance to take down the Gamecocks, if they can learn from that game they have a very good chance against MO at home.

Anyway....good luck, I hope it happens.

5-7 never is.

The big prize is not this year and failing to get to 6-6. Is not gonna make or break the tenure, even tho a bowl is important.

I'd say the majority still thought Lyle was the guy going into last year.

So I'm not sure what that really tells us.

It wasnt factual anyway.

When things fell apart in 2016 against Texas A & M. USC and Vandy I gave up on Butch

If you predicted 5-7 this summer you were at risk of being tarred and feathered, broken at the wheel, and then hung, drawn, and quartered.

And it shouldn't be.
Vandy does have a senior quarterback, who is pretty decent, that counts for a lot in modern college football and can offset some deficiencies elsewhere IF you can keep them upright. The difference between Georgia and Florida this past weekend was that Georgia had much better quarterback play.

Lol, "who ya got?"
End of 2015. We probably could've hired Muschamp. Maybe Richt, wouldn't that have been a fun stick in the eye to UGA? Fuente would've been a popular choice that year. Kirby was the cream of that class and no way in hell we were getting him. When you're in UTK's position, you pretty much have to be ready to fire your coach every year because you can never really synchronize firing your head coach with a time when some really elite head coach is available.

We should never, ever accept a loss to Vandy.

Twas a joke.

From the end of the 15 Florida game for about 24 hours I would have traded Butch for Justin Beiber.
