It doesn't look like a bowl year for these scrappy Vols, to state the obvious. Gonna hafta to win 2-3 vs Ky, Mo, and Vandy at Vandy. Odds of that happening are about 1 out 5 in my estimation. Still it could happen , but it is more likely that we win 1 ( I think we will be an underdog all 3 games) . The Auburn win was big - Butch never beat a team from the west. So, we end at 5-7, which is what most rational people predicted last summer. JP has done a decent job, not thrilling but good. There is reason to hope for better times ahead.

I'd love it, but I think our bowl chances went down the toilet Saturday. I know we have KY and mizz at home, but no way we're beating them. Vandy will likely extend the streak to 3. If we could've won Saturday it may have inspired the team, but I just don't see another win, besides Charlotte. Jmo

If I remember correctly from the game last week, they said our chances of going to a bowl with a USC loss went from 66 percent to 16 percent.o_O

I remember them showing it, and it was something like that

you find a way to stop the run, just a little bit and eliminate the penalties...........and play the way we did Saturda night, there's not a game on our schedule we can't win the rest of hte way.

i'm not calling for an undefeated November. but MO can be had if you pressure Locke. Vandy doesn't scare me. we're gonna beat UNCC.

and i'll be honest, i think KY probably comes in here a tad cocky, thinking they can probably just show up and beat us in two weeks.

if they lose this weekend, does that loss beat them twice? if they win, are they riding too high as SEC e champs?

i thnk the KY game is another prime upset opportunity. on paper, they should win easily. very good defense that shoudl match up welll agianst our offense, and a multiple run oriented offense that should be able to gouge our defense.

we'll see. i think 6-6 is still on the table. if i had to bet, i'd say 5-7.

id give Pruitt a C thus far. Average recruiting class last yr, team hasn't played with the level of intensity or emotion you'd expect from a 1st yr coach, yet gradual improvement in some areas, not so much in others. Nothing more or nothing good less than you'd expect from a rookie HC. Claiming he's a savior is a stretch. Biggest win he can have from here until next season is on signing day.

It would be cool if someone had the time to compile all the threads from last year saying some variation of "we are just a good coach away."
We were a good coach away in 16', 17' not so much. Obviously not 18'

The 2015 class ranked 4th (2nd in the SEC) This is our current true SR class. It had 14 four star players signed and 2 five stars, 16 total.
Half of those 16 are no longer on the roster.

The 2016 class ranked 14th (7th in the conference) True Jr class
The 2017 class ranked 17th (7th in the conference) True So class
The 2018 class ranked 21st (8th in the conference) True Fr. class (cleanup class)

The band guy had legit talent in the middle of his run (where we were just a good coach away). Most of those guys graduated, left or declared. By the time he was finished our 4th ranked true SR class this year (on paper) was gutted and after that he was recruiting Dooley level classes 2 years in a row and the 3rd was a patched together class by Pruitt.

There are some good young players on this team that he didn't have a chance to completely screw up or run off. But nothing near whats required to compete in this conference for anything.

I was hoping some AD would be tricked into thinking he was a quality coach after 2016, and hire him away from us; UT is never that lucky though.

In all industries, excepting politics it seems, betting on the stupidity of others to save you rarely pans out.

I started the season expecting 3-9 and it looks like 4-8 is where we land.

I like to hope we run the table but let’s be honest, this team and coaching staff suck (this season). Maybe next year we take a leap and Pruitt gets his feet under him and maybe not.

Feels like we’re the new Vandy now.
