Another email from our UCLA friend:

Dude, that's awesome. Add another point for Vols fans. After we left Calhoun's after the game, Ashley dropped Trent and I off on Cumberland because we wanted to watch some of the late football games. We ended up at Bar Knoxville watching the $C game with a pocket of UCLA fans. The DJ was right in front of us and was keeping up a good banter with us as he played some good rock music. At one point during a break in the game he dialed up the UCLA fight song for us. We all sung along and his reaction was pretty funny: "There's words to that song?"

He of course played "Rocky Top" immediately after, but we all thought it was awesome that he'd have our fight song on his deck to play

I don't think that's the case. I was in the band (late 80s, early 90s) and I never got that impression at all. The band director always tried to make sure that we played their song well and consistently with the way they played it. It was taken seriously. Any other former band members have any thoughts on this?

I never boo when we play the opponent's song! To me, it's one of the best moments in sportsmanship we show at Neyland.

That is why I miss Tennessee and my heart aches for home. I am so proud to be a Tennessean and even more so a VOL.:clap:

It does show great sportsmanship.. But I usually boo to be quite honest. I'm not as classy as Craig. I have not and will never boo my own team, but I tend to boo the opposition.

People have asked my why I did this...its an easy ? to answer!

When my 13 year old son couldn't go because he hurt his knee...I knew I had to do something special instead of just selling ticket to friend or selling both tickets(although like most I could have used the $$$..LOL)

So it hit me Friday after reading on diff message boards fans SLAM each other for years. I decided to reach out across country in a gesture of good sportsmanship.

Something "some" fans don't to to well or to often!!!

When I told people what I was doing .. I was told by a few even by my own Mother that I was crazy for doing this...he could be an Axe killer etc...LOL

But I never saw it that way, I looked at it on the positive side something most people need to do in life instead of harping on the negative's and by me doing that it turned out POSITIVE! If I had looked at it the my my Mother and some friends did, this story would have never happened!

I made a new friend and the Vol Nation made a new friend from over 2000 miles away and that is something $$$ cant buy!

It's great to be a Tennessee Vol!! And its great to know there are Vols like you out there. Thanks for the enhancement to our already top-rate reputation! No better or classier fans anywhere.

others have already said it but thanks volsrock for being a genuine ambassador to not only our little vol nation here, but more importantly the entire nation of vols around the country and world. it was comforting to see all of those bruins instantly become vol fans because of the simple gestures of you and the other fella that gave him a place to stay for the night and a ride to the airport. that is what it is all about.

I met my husband online, and picked Red Lobster for our first date (it was the busiest place I could think of at the time and in case he was an axe murderer I could get away.) I should've gone for a UT game. I didn't even think of that.

To boo when UT's band plays the opponents fight song IMO is negating the purpose of doing it. Someone had a great idea to display sportsmanship, why not show it too? Cotten was saying this I believe.

I tell those sitting around me this every game I attend, much to their lack of caring I'm sure.
