Not being an ass, but can we stick to topic and save the flirting for another thread?

Maybe, just this once.

On a K,

You definitely need to mix in a little Ludacris.......Move *itch, Get Out The Way.

Of course, the clean version!!

I would think having to hear "Beat It" after a strikeout would be crappy, adding Micheal Jackson to any situation makes it worse. If you can't bring yourself to play Micheal Jackson, I certainly understand. Loser by Beck would work too.

I've done this before and my favorites are "hit the road jack" by ray charles and "heartbreak hotel" by elvis when an opposing pitcher is getting pulled. When it's a quick change, I play "ring of fire" by johnny cash while the new pitcher warms up. For the home team pitching changes, I like "help" by the beatles. My favorite home run sung is "dropped a bomb on me" by the gap band.

it's also fun to just have general sound effects. Our field was near a semi busy street and if someone fouled one off into the street we had a car crash sound and a broken window sound.

Strikeouts were simple noises as well. I used the sound a cash register makes and Homer Simpson's "Doh". Also had a robot/computer type voice that would just say "error error error error" when the opposing team made an error.

most important though is your song as the the home team takes the field to begin with. It was before it became cliche', but we used "let's get it started". I've heard that OHOHOHOHOHOH song nine million times at every sporting event imaginable. I hope you can be more creative than that.

It went pretty well. I was on time with most of my music. I didn't announce this week, which I really don't care for announcing. I have a very low voice and feel like a clown if I do that colorful stuff.

Anyway they brought in this cat that was just overzealous with everything. Annouced the name way to long and killed the time I had to play "up to bat music". He thought he couldn't talk unless the music was absolutley off. I thought it was just me but after the game I was talking to the guys that coach the team and they were annoyed by him as well.

Honestly, he was just a local guy that thought everyone was there to listen to him because between innings he'd just break in with some dumb local knowledge about the field.

He kind of irritated me but you know man that's his thing, he gets goofy and loves the whole local sports scene. I'm from 400 miles away I really could give a rat's ass, so I'm not going to rain on his parade with my perfectly timed music.

a PA announcer just needs to say the names as the batters come up, announce any lineup changes, cover the sponsors in between innings and help with any on field promotion/activity. No one wants to hear that the stadium was built in 1953 or that it been home to 13 different teams. If he wants to yammer away about that stuff, get on the radio. Minor league baseball is LOADED with craptastic announcers.

As a PA guy myself, I agree wholehartedly, the job of the PA guy is to say the name as quickly as possible, and announce the score between innings. Of course I'm also the music guy at the games that I do as well.

Business, if you are still doing this, let me know & I'll send you some of the short drops that I've created.

Well when the coach and the catcher are talking to the pitcher on the mound,
This clip is without doubt the best to play during that moment...Might need to edit it a bit and shorten it up but its classic none the less... YouTube - bull durham
