Most bowls are social events with all the "free" activities, and $350 to $500 a night hotel rooms ain't exactly free

End of the day, MCB had two things going for it. First, it would have sold out, which would have looked really good on TV and helped feed the hype machine. Second, our middle TN recruiting has been poor since Pruitt arrived and getting the team here for a few days may have helped flip that script, particularly for the 2021 class in which we absolutely must crush it in greater Nashville area. Taxslayer has the cache, such as it is, of being in FLA, which seems to mean more to some people that it does to others.

Taxslayer is the only game on in prime time that night. No NFL. Not much else on. Great opportunity to shine. MCB is a 4PM game, competing against another game at also people who are at work.

Last year MCB had about 2.6M viewers. Gator Bowl over 5M.
