Muschamp to hold Press Conference tomorrow morning

Its getting late and I am just not up to holding an all night vigil. At this point Muschamp seems like a stretch but if Jimmy Sexton was in the middle of the Kiffin situation maybe he was able to quickly broker a Muschamp deal.

The more I think it about maybe Hamilton should just tell Kippy "its yours if you want it" and lets see what he can put together.

good thing you are not MH.

I really think this press conference is going to be him saying he's staying at Texas. First off, I think its too soon and secondly, wouldn't he have the press conference in TN if he was going to be named the new head coach?

I could for see him having a press conference in Texas if he took the TN job as an attempt to keep any recruits with thoughts of jumping ship to stay on board a little bit longer until he was able to talk to them one on one. But I only think that just cause were 3 weeks from signing day and I really have no idea whether or not Mushchamp will take the job.

guys Muaschamp aint coming and he is not the answer..how do we know when the texas job opens up that he wouldnt jump ship
We don't...as Kiffin so profoundly proved. But, considering that the Head Coach in waiting deal was just a mere ploy to keep him on staff...knowing Mack Brown wasn't going to be retiring anytime soon, we all knew that was a farce.

CLK just didn't fit in...you hoped he would grow comfortable with living in the South and appreciate the prestige of the SEC, but I guess he's just a SoCal premadonna to the core.

In the long run, it's best he did move on...just the timing is horrendous. USC is a douchebag university for trying to snag a coach who has barely begun rebuilding their respective programs. I thought that was the case when they talked about going after Sark.

I thought "what sort of a$$munch would go after a coach who just got to their current school?"

I was neutral about USC before now...today they are right up there with UF and Bama on my hate list....what's bad about that is....I live about 30 mins from LA (moved about 2yrs ago, for work reasons)

I am a bama fan.

BUT before you thrash out on me!!! Here me out. I just wrote about a 2 page rant on my facebook about how pissed off I was at Lame Kiffin, I feel for you guys. I really do. I live in Oklahoma, I go to school at Oklahoma State, further more, I run track at OSU. I have to put up with Big 12 talk all day everyday. Bottem line, I'm Bama fan first, SEC second. And when Meyer said he was stepping down (only to instead just take a LOA) I was upset aswell, because it hurts the conference. I'm pissed that we lost not so much a great coach, but a pretty darn good recruiter. I'm all about the SEC having, what? 5 in the top ten best recruiting classes? 11 in the top 20?! It sucks. I really think this is a blessing in disguise for Vol Nation however. Its always darkest before the storm... etc etc. I hate Lane Kiffin, I've never liked him. He's got a big mouth and a smart daddy. Ed O. He's the one you should be most mad at. He had the nerve to call the early enrolls and tell them to come to USC. Really?! That's messed up man. No matter what way you cut it.

Here's hoping Tenn. gets Will Muschamp!

good luck guys.

If yall aren't too mean to me I'll come back! :)

Nice first post. You're probably the only rival fan to not post nonsense tonight. Welcome to VN.

Will the muschamp presser be televised? I'll be driving to a meeting, so I'm hoping to pick it up on my iphone.

Got home from B-Ball and heard the news
I won't recap feelings expressed already.

West Coast Prespective:
Pedersen will not leave Boise.
Edsall would be a great hire
You guys have better prespective on Muschamp, not sure

The worst part is replacing a guy 3 weeks before signing day.

This sets us back big time.

Ironically, I have season tix to Seahawks and my wanting see Mora Jr. run killed the team i route for most.

GO VOLS!!!!! Find a way Hammy.

Have a drink, stay a while. You're not an idiot like some of your brethren

from bustersports.com

my personal opinion, we need some one that gets the most out of 3 and 4 star talent, i think that is where we are right now. Damage control, not a so called splash.

1. Gary Patterson, TCU -- Patterson, if he's willing to leave (and he should be, one would think), is probably the top candidate. He's coming off a year where he was the AP Coach of the Year and took TCU to a major bowl game. Only problem is, he won't be a "splash" (like Kiffin was last season) because of his relative lack of success at the upper levels of college coaching, even if a 53-18 record since replacing Dennis Franchione speaks for itself. Verdict: Very Strong Candidate

2. David Cutcliffe, Duke -- He's the native son, he coached this fella named Peyton Somethingoranother while at UT, and his short time at Duke has turned him from someone who was run out of Ole Miss to a suddenly very attractive head coaching candidate for his old stomping grounds. Verdict: Very Strong Candidate

3. Will Muschamp, DC, Texas -- It doesn't seem like Muschamp would want to leave his "Head Coach in Waiting" position but coming to Tennessee (and back to the SEC where he got started) would give him an immediate head coach position at a premium school, two viable recruiting pipelines, a lot more money and much less time behind Mack Brown. Verdict: Very Strong Candidate

4. Randy Edsall, UCONN -- Edsall is a hot name in any coaching search because of the work he's done at Uconn, and if he's good enough for Notre Dame, he's good enough for Tennessee, dammit! But seriously, Edsall would have to be a likely contender to make the jump from Big East to SEC if the opportunity was there. Verdict: Very Strong Candidate

5. Doug Marrone, Syracuse -- Marrone's first head coaching gig at Syracuse was marred by the whole Greg Paulus at QB fiasco, but despite a 4-8 record, he's still a hot name in coaching (you can't fix everything in one year, after all) and he's a former UT staffer, coaching there in 2001 before jumping to the pros for six years. Verdict: Very Strong Candidate

6. Skip Holtz, ECU -- Holtz comes immediately to mind because he's being mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Jim Leavitt at South Florida. Whether he would count, like Patterson, as a splash remains to be seen too. But regardless of what you want to say about Conference USA football (and there's plenty), Holtz has balled it up down there and made ECU a force in the state. Verdict: Strong Candidate

Why would someone hold a press conference at their current employer to say he was going somewhere else? I would think it's to say he's staying. Hope I'm wrong.
