Muschamp and Clemson

Lane Kiffin is a media darling. He is all over ESPN and has that "IT' facor right now. Bobby Johnson is a blue collar coach that with equal talent could take Kiffin to the woodshed any Saturday afternoon or evening. For the record, I hate Vandy. However, I respect the hell out of Bobby Johnson and what he has accomplshed there. He takes toothpicks to a sword fight in the SEC and is surviving.

Whatever you say man, whatever you say. I'm just glad you aren't our AD.

I've heard at the very least, Swinney will be retained for whatever new staff comes in.

Let's say Swinney goes 4-2 to finish the season, and Clemson hires you to be the next head coach. Would you retain Dabo Swinney? A man who already has a large faction of Clemson fans wanting him to be the next head coach?

It's a recipe for a split fan base at the very first moment that the next head coach has a couple of disappointing losses.

I think that, with Dabo, Clemson will either have to make him the next head coach, or let him go once the season's over....and, I don't think he's the answer at head coach.

Quick question- IPTAY stands for what?

Believe it means "I Pay Ten A Year," which started years ago when you paid $10/yr to be a donor. The wife went to Clemson, so she's got an IPTAY sticker on the back of her car. She pays much more than $10/yr now to get those season tix . . . .

could Dabo possibly be a special teams coach for UTK? Could also help with recruiting... is this even something that should be considered?

Receivers coach I believe.

The rumor I hear is that they are going after Big Chinned Bill Cohwer. Cohwer's daughter got into Wofford which is right down the road from Clemson, and they are willing to offer big bucks to him, well see if he leaps to college ball and not back to the pro's.

Why all the love for muschamp? With a lot of talent, his defense has given up 35 points and 31 points the last 2 weeks. Not too good.

That was against two highly touted teams. I believe the intensity he brings to the table is what we've been missing. He has one of the highest motors of any coach I've seen and that can be addictive. We definately could use some.

Two highly touted BIG 12 teams :eek:hmy: He gets to the SEC and gives up that kind of points and yardage and we would be looking for another new coach within a year :fool: Wake up people:clapping:

It's OK for your defense to give up big points to "highly touted teams?"

As long as your offense scores more.(which I believe they did) Missouri was never in the game and scored some late mop up points after the dogs were called off. Oklahoma is a rivalry game and the D stepped up when they needed to stop them.:)

The top Big 12 offenses are quite a bit better than the Top SEC offenses this season. The QB play alone is far better.

Muschamp is the hottest Coordinator out there. There are no Eastern Michigan's or Southern Miss' in his future. He's going big time real soon.

I agree. I wish we could grab him up. He will be with Texas throughout the season though with them having a chance at the NC. At least through the big 12 title game. By then we may have a vacancy

I knew Pearl was going to be great from day one! Like Bruce Pearl, when Pearl was at Milwaukee. Patterson is doing an awesome job with far less talent than UT. His recruiting classes are mainly in the 30-80 range in the nation. Patterson has to recruit against Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, and LSU. All these schools are within a 7 hour drive of Fort Worth.

Sooners Offense vs Longhorns Defense

Rush Yds avg TD long
26 48 1.8 0 13

pass yards avg TD int
28/41 387 9.4 5 2

Sooners Offense vs TCU Defense

Rush Yds avg TD long
36 25 0.7 1 7

pass yards avg TD int
19/34 411 12.1 4 0

Oklahoma got almost half of their offensive yard total in the first quarter. TCU made adjustments and held them to 200 yards in three quarters. Oklahoma averages 164 yards per game on the ground. TCU held them to 25 yards for a .7 yard per carry average! TCU ran for 102 yards versus the Sooners for a 2.9 yard average.

Consider this, Patterson's team kicked BYUs tail. TCU has much less talent on paper than us. Chavis would have went to the ' mustang ' all day versus BYU. We lose to BYU with much more talent than TCU!!! TCU holds BYU to 26 pts below their season average. Remember, they scored 59 versus UCLA.

Below is what Patterson's defense did versus BYU.

Rush Yds avg TD long
28 23 0.8 1 13

pass yards avg TD int
22/42 274 6.5 0 2

Can you imagine what Patterson could do with our defense? Great defensive and offensive lines win championships. TCU is 1st in the NCCA with only 21 yards allowed on the ground. While the offense rushes for 233 yards per game which is 11th in the nation.

No, TCU doesn't play the caliber of teams we play. But, they don't have the caliber of players we have either. It all comes down to fundamentals and schemes. Patterson would win a few National Titles with the talent we get. :yahoo:

Everyone thinks Fulmer is one of the few who can recruit great out of state talent, BS. Did you know? Fulmer was 0-9 versus Florida in the last recruiting class. He was 2-15 versus Bama. And, Fulmer let our best two in state prospects land in Bama. Fulmer is washed up in all aspects of coaching!!!!!!!
