Murray predicts 2-6 start

So, essentially, Murray sees the Vols losing to WVA, defeating ETSU & UTEP, then losing to UF, UGA, Auburn, Bama, and SoCar. Likely, that's what the odds makers are indicating. Murray's not risking anything with that prediction. Naysaying Pruitt reveals Murray's Richt-ness. [Yawn]

Being a UT alum and old enough to have played with Dirt before she sprouted grass and Mother Nature shipped her off to boarding school, I've seen this rodeo many times before. At this moment, team 122 is undefeated. Have an orange Nehi. Hope for victories. Greet the impending season with hopes for upsets, victories and glory. Whatever comes will unfold soon enough. GBO.

The chances we go 2-6 to start are only marginally worse than going 8-0. Murray's position seems poorly researched to say the least.

Are the people who strongly disagree with AM's prediction willing to go ahead and post that Pruitt should be fired if we start 2-6?
There is no way Pruitt gets fired in year 1 absent a big scandal. Its pointless to even get the pitchforks out that early.

Hillbilly and MWA and a few others live for the pitchfork marches. It's what turns them on. They're not happy unless there is angst and drama on these boards.

If they keep subjecting us to these same underwhelming hires, I'm probably not going to move too far off the point. 2-6 is a worst case scenario although a likely one. WVA ain't no GaTech. Assuming we're settled in at QB, we could take UF at home. Maybe start 3-5.

Jesus, this guy! I hope his contract is reevaluated after seasons end! He obviously couldn't cut it in the NFL, and it appears that he may not cut it as an analyst/sports media guy.

I really wanted Dooley to succeed. I hope Pruitt does well but hope doesn't feed the hound dog. Soon.

Just because somebody has an ulterior motive for saying something doesn't mean what they are saying isn't true or ridiculous. It gives reason to look into what they are saying even deeper, but it doesn't automatically mean they are wrong.

There are only 2 definite wins in our first 8 games. The other six games range from a toss-up (Florida), to games where we have a shot but will be a clear underdog (vs. West Virginia, @ South Carolina), to games we have little if any chance to win (@ Georgia, @ Auburn, Alabama). Murray is saying he expects us to lose the games where we are a clear underdog, along with the 50/50 game. I hope he's wrong too, but it isn't an absurd opinion, even if he has a personal beef with Pruitt.

Very true,my only beef is he seems to bring it up every chance he gets. He talks about Pruitt not having the personality to deal with the outside distractions, sort of sounds like another Coach down the road by the name of Saben!

Predicting a 2-6 start is just a lazy effort imo. Anybody can reflexively look at our schedule and with no effort say “oh yeah, that’s 2-6”.

This is hilarious to me because it shows how irrelevant Murray is. His alma mater just won the sec title but he’s more worried about talking ish about Pruitt and the Vols. We havent even played a game yet and these bozos are already sweating us. I can’t wait to prove Murray wrong!

Who cares what a washed, up has been, Georgia Poodle has to say about our coach. He's all up in his feelings. Bless his heart.

He knows what’s coming. Pruitt is every bit as qualified as Kirby was, only difference is Pruitt has a perfectionist attitude and started from humble beginnings in the sport to make his way up. We’ve got a damn good coach and I can’t wait for others to see it unfold.
