Murfreesboro

Good schools, affordable cost of living, lots of greenway, population expected to double in 20-30 years, lots of medical offices, traffic pretty bad especially Saturday, not to far from Nashville, close to Percy priest lake, location of the stones river and the stones river national battlefield, a few nice golf courses, county seat of Rutherford County.

It's a nice place, I lived there for a couple years while in grad school and enjoyed it. Traffic can get really bad though.

Infrastructure is struggling to keep up with growth. Over last 10-15 years, added two major public high schools. Also opened new middle and elementary schools. Roads are lagging behind schools. Major construction road project on going in the center of town.

Fastest growing county in Tennessee.

I live in Smyrna, 10 minutes from the Boro. Traffic sucks. There are 2 malls within 2 miles of each other. Lots of restaurants. Did I mention traffic sucks?? :)

Due to lottery and the low admission standards of MTSU it is becoming little Memphis. I moved my family out of there 4 years ago.

Yeah, I think it's pretty ****ty town. Too many people that can't drive on crappy roads

Born and raised there. Traffic is getting horrible because it is growing too fast for the road system to keep up...but overall, its a nice place to live and raise a family. Lots of nice areas, fairly safe, stuff to do, fairly close to Nashville (but not too close). Anyone saying its ****ty for any reason other than the awful traffic hasn't spent enough time there.

Spent 3 years there in that time: body burned in dumpter, basketball star player stabbed, and 3 different shootings over drugs. I packed my family and got out. If you stay as far away from MTSU campus you should be alright but you couldn't pay me to live there again.

Lol all of that happened last week here in Metro Atlanta area. So it's not THAT bad.

I was born in the Boro but moved down here when I was 5. Been back plenty since but I can't say much more than what everyone has said about traffic

I mean yeah, campus is on the border of the poorer side of town. Are you telling me that those things caused you to pack up and leave the city? Where did you move to, Mayberry?

It's a great place to buy right now imo. Some of the best schools in middle Tennessee, and with the projected growth of the midstate, I think Murfreesboro is going to explode. Rutherford is already one of the fastest growing counties in the country, and its only going to pick up.

That's all that happened in 3 years??? That's nightly news here in Vegas.

Well the thing that would worry me is the infrastructure. I did stop at the boro last time I was there.

Yep, roads are a problem and will continue to get worse. The same can be said for a lot of the areas surrounding Nashville though. There needs to be a serious commitment to infrastructure improvement to try and keep pace with all this growth.

Traffic is bad, but the way walmarts, krogers, publix, and other such stores have been placed you really don't have to venture out of your own section of town. For example 3 markets, a gym, and several restaurants with in 2 miles of me.
