*****Multiple sources confirm Jeremy Pruitt is next Tennessee Head Coach

Maybe now he will quit trying to force Kevin Steele into every conversation. I like Jimmy most of the time but my goodness it got annoying how often he would bring Steele's name up.

Solid hire. Best actual Coach we have had in a long time. He is a proven recruiter and player developer. Get us a good offensive coordinators and this team will make strides on both sides of the ball. This is no Dooley or Butch. He could end up being beat coach in the East. Time will tell.

Totally concur. Anyone who, throughout this so called search, mentioned Kevin Steele without the obligatory "sucks" in the same phrase needs a kick in the nads.

Pros: (1) Excellent coach. (2) Wins everywhere he goes. (3) One of the best recruiters in the nation. (4) Aggressive schemes.

Cons: (from a Georgia buddy who also gave me the Pro comments.) (1) Per Dawgs247 writer before Pruitt left Georgia, Pruitt needs to take HC101, learning what to say and not to say in front of a crowd. Rough around the edges at times. (2) Rumored to have had an embarrassing altercation with Mark Richt, Won’t give details because it’s rumor only. (3) if Fulmer insisted Tee Martin be part of the deal, could spell trouble down the road.

Given the current landscape (stepping on our Johnson the last 3 weeks) and Fulmer’s requirement (wanting a defensive guy) it’s GOOD hire.

But, I agree with Rucker’s article. Is Alabama 3.0 going to be better than the first 2? Very tough to out-recruit Alabama and Georgia. And we obviously play both, every year.

If these are the cons:

1) A large portion of this fanbase was ok with Leach (have you ever watched any of his pressers). I don't care if he is rough around the edges of dealing with reporters. That will work itself out. Football knowledge and coaching ability would not.

2. Don't care if he had some spat with a HC because he will be the man now. Though I will say he sounds like he doesn't take BS from anyone, so who knows how that might play out with the AD.

3. Its being reported that Martin is not being considered for any role at UT. I don't think Fulmer would have insisted on Martin. Especially if Martin just got a call yesterday.

After 15 years of buying season tickets, at end of this past season I was done. No more.

But then they chose Phil as AD and I thought, well maybe I'll stay around awhile longer. Nope. He chose Pruitt? Seriously? That's the best Tennessee could do? Another experiment with an unproven coach? I've seen that show and I'll not waste my money on it again.

Color me gone. I'll keep my money and watch the Vols from the comfort of my man cave from here on out. If you're interested, there'll be four season tickets with a great view available in ZZ next season.

If you had to pick

A) Tucker
B) Steele
C) Pruitt
D) Death

What do you choose?

Cake.

Some interesting coordinator names are being floated out there. Recruiting has a good chance to be dynamite.

Sounds like a recruiting machine.

Pruitt may not impress you with his speech or catchy sayings like other coaches we've had did but the cat can absolutely coach the hell out of football.

Not disagreeing with any of your comments, just adding info:

(1). Rough around the edges and needing CoachSpeak 101, was more than speaking campus reporters. But that was a few years ago....and surely Fulmer isn’t counting on just the interview.

(2) WAY more than a spat, could have made headlines in a very bad way for Georgia. Hopefully (A) it’s not true, or (B) a one time mistake and he learned from it.

(3) Good! Forcing an assistant on a new HC would be a rookie mistake for Fulmer as AD.

FINALLY MOVING FORWARD!!! Today will be a good day for VolNation.

Deuces.

There's uncertainty but uncertainty also means it COULD work. We don't know. I'm here for it though.

Depending on what he does with his staff and this recruiting class I might even find myself in Charlotte next September.

Still no official word on utsports.com

Interesting we are over here discussing the merits of a coach that hasn't even been officially named lol. Welcome to the social media age for real!

An AD and group of boosters that don't monumentally eff us over.

An administration committed to backing the brinks truck to a great coach (like Bama did with Saban).

Minimal signs of give a damn from anyone at the school, really.

Petersen, Patterson, someone that wins. Someone proven.

Too many folks think that a hire like this only comes down to money. In the real world, there are more important things than money. I seriously doubt either of the coaches you listed would come to UT, even for Saban money.
