Multiple Level 1 Violations Discovered

Not saying that. But slip ups happen. My stance stands. Whomever is the next HC, the first time he loses a game he shouldn’t, there will be idiots saying he isn’t the guy.
That may be true, and unfair...but it's entirely possible some of us will say it before he coaches a snap. Or track record of identifying who is a stiff is pretty clean at this point, so the administration likely should try to get this one right. I've been dead-set against the last three coaches. My prediction for Pruitt was 3 years and a coaching search. Maybe a different route on selecting a coach is in order. Obviously the trouble Pruitt leaves us in changes things a little bit. The factremains it doesn't take long to see if a coach is a fit or not.

My expectations are clear and realistic....
1. Improve
2. Beat the teams you're supposed to.
3. Compete with our rivals- blowouts are an indicator that something isn't right.
4. Improve some more.
5. Be in the conversation for the East into November.

That's really all I ask, and all that matters at this point.

I believed our roster is still solid. But that’s if we don’t lose too many players, which may happen. Realistically if we don’t get hammered too bad from these violations, we should be able to be competitive in 2-3 seasons still.
I think we’re getting ready to see a mass exodus on the roster.

How will this manifest itself? Can they all jump into the portal? Can they all transfer to another school without scholarship? Can the new signees renege even though they have already signed? I really don’t know.., Please explain

What do you mean “figure it out”? You just repeated my point!

ALLOWED TO RETIRE is the point of contention. That infers they approached him an escape hatch and he took it. I am sure that is the narrative the talking heads in town want to foster, but I will have to see some evidence that is the sequence of events. Not saying they tried to talk him out of it, but I do think he put it on the table. Doubt that subject had been broached during the busy law firm report analysis period she described. He seems to be an active part of the consensus decisions they announced.

Everyone can leave and most will.

UT has screwed itself. They’ve essentially admitted guilt. The NCAA allows unrestricted transfer when violations occur. See Ole Miss for example. UT basically created a file and put a bow on it for the NCAA.

Tennessee will be the first since SMU, knowing our luck. Lol

LOL you got that right!

Penn State was the closest to getting the death penalty in recent years and in hindsight, they really didn't stay down for that long and look at how horrible that situation was.

I don't think this will be as grim as some believe. Hell, we've been on a self-appointed "death penalty" for the last 12 years! What's another year or two? LOL!

The poachers have landed...

I didn’t intend to impugn Fulmer - I like the guy. My point was simply that if AD retirement (instead of dismissal) was a credible option, then perhaps the scope of the violations was limited.

Fulmer may well feel that he took his shot at hiring a coach and it didn’t work out. So, he is stepping aside to give someone else a chance.

All this mess so we can go 3-7...lose by 27 at Neyland to Kentucky and get obliterated by georgia and Bama. Geez. This really is a fascinating story. I didn't think we were capable of these violations....and yet we're still high and mighty about hiring a "guy like Freeze."

With an apparently large number of Level One violations, where was our compliance group? We’re they complicit or did the violators know how to keep it hidden?
Again, with an apparently large number of Level One violations, it’s not hard to believe Pruitt was looking the other way, or just not looking. I tend to think he was just not looking. Not trying to defend him, but I don’t think administrative oversight is his strength. So then, I come back to where was our compliance group?

What’s really gonna pi$$ me off is if the NCAA starts looking into basketball and baseball, simply for the reason you point out.
GBO!!

It becomes a self feeding machine. Saban didn't walk into the best roster at LSU or Alabama but he won big with what was there and built the best roster. It's what great coaches do.

It’s fairly unlikely that they person we hire this time will be an all time great. You never know, but the odds aren’t great. Hoping for the best though !
