Mullen says he is staying

If Currie is still in the Bahamas... he could fly Mullen, or any other HC candidate to the Bahamas to meet with him, couldn't he? Or Currie could fly on a different aircraft and meet the HC candidate in a different place altogether... that is, if they want to keep the meeting under wraps. To be quite honest, there is no telling who he has talked to privately via teleconference, in his suite in the Bahamas, or in a private room at the Bahamas airport, or even on an airplane there... away from the prying eyes of all of Knoxville. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Currie had more on his agenda than to simply take in a couple of BB games while in the Bahamas. I think he wants to make a signature hire.

Currie is back in the states per Hubbs on VQ podcast just posted within the past hour.

And Saban will not be Bama’s Head coach next year...

You can’t believe a word these guys say. The only question they are concerned with is, “How much?”

I just think Mullen, or his wife, enjoys being somewhere where he can do his job and not have the expectations that normally come with his salary.

If he wanted a better job, he’d have one by now

Agree. He’s making $4.9 currently and he can parlay all this interest from other teams into probably $5.5 mm from Miss State in short order. He’d be a fool to go to Knoxville and insert himself into the ish show that is Tennessee football right now...just stay in Starkville with more money and coach there as long as he wants, vs being the next Tennessee football coaching casualty in 3-4 years

Mullen said after last night's game he is staying in Starkville to coach the bulldogs. Although I was pretty sure he wasn't headed to Knoxville, it means another big coach is off the table. Currie is headed for failure, mid tier coach here we come.

Thanks eeyore

I'm glad Mullen is staying at MS. Tennessee deserves better than him.

This post has a bit of everything that is silly about some on Volnation. First, we have no clue if Mullen is staying. We'll know that after coaching positions are filled. Second, Tennessee deserves better? I'd put Mullen's credentials against almost any other realistic candidate.

Nice try. Y’all are eating this fake news up. Media doesn’t know sh*t.

+11million! LOL. It could turn out to be either or neither. But rest assured, there is about a 99% chance that the media is just trolling for clicks with assumptions and "unnamed sources close to the situation".

Their are people still around here who think Hart blew the Gruden hire last time at the 11th hour because of these morons who made a quick buck off the clicks. PT Barnum was right!

A sucker born every minute . ESPN trotted out the worn out "he says he's not spoken with ANYONE from another school" line from Mullen last night on the game. 25 years ago I would have thought that meant something. Now that I've been around the block a little I realize it's a "smokescreen" deception housed in a fact.

No, he hasn't. But you can rest assured that his agent has been fielding calls for months and Mullen is constantly abreast of the offers. It's just the way the game is played.

So he is realistic but others are not?

You're the only "outlet" I've seen mention Schiano.

Vols1707 has got to be an internet troll. On the Les Miles thread all he does is talk about how great Les Miles is.

So his top 2 candidates are Schiano and Miles? The absolute 2 WORST candidates being mentioned.

Hubbs is spreading fake news. He’s about as clued in as Hyams. They are worthless.

They are. Currie's career is in the line. If anyone inside leaks anything it could jeapordize the hire or at least cost a lot at the negotiating table. If there are real leaks then Currie has big problems otherwise.
