Well your point is wrong. He wanted Florida. He never formally talked with Tennessee cause he knew Florida was coming open. He delayed a meeting with Tennessee knowing that. Get your facts straight.

I'm all for Mullen being fired, if your AD is man enough to give Sankey the middle finger and hire Hugh Freeze.

My point is right! Mullen said no..... yes he wanted Florida but if UT would have shelled out the cash for him we would be in the mess UF is in now. Say what you want but the fan base was behind this hire if made and I'm sure some of the likes from yours and another poster wanted him here. I for one am glad he's not. Wasn't on board with the CJH hire but all in now. We dodged a bullet plain and simple.

LOL exactly and that's pointed at YOU! Mullen was offered the job and read this and read it well, TURNED IT DOWN! How deft are you to the fact? It was in all the media during the coaching search and HE SAID NO. You're only point that you're right on is he wanted Florida. The rest is garbage. Enjoy ignore!

It's all about the money! Think a coach would take a job for free? NO, they WANT to be paid and paid well. If you think these coaches do this for the love of the game (some do, but most don't they want a paycheck) you're wrong. They do it for the dollar bills in their wallet.

Speaking of money.. Doesn't Saban look miserable in that blue Aflac jacket doing commercials with that duck? I would think he doesn't need to be doing that for a little extra scratch. Maybe it is more fun than it looks. At least Peyton throws a little humor into his ads.

I know he had the one really good season, but did he really succeed at Miss St? Definitely won more than he lost, but only one really good season. Never really good without Dak Prescott, though never really not good either.

And yet, they have 3 losses of a 7 points or less. A little better luck, and they are 7-1 instead of 4-4. They will likely still end the year 8-4, which isn't terrible on a down year.

Mullen is a good coach. He has his warts, but the best thing for TN football would be for UF to get trigger happy and fire him. The likelihood of them hiring a better coach is slim to none.

Several years ago Saban was in a ESPN commercial in which he dropped a Little Debbie on the floor then ate it. I thought that was funny.

UF has been a middling program for a nearly decade before Mullen arrived. It's gonna take more than 3-4 good years to get a program anywhere near where those teams are at currently.

Mullen's record at MSU was 69 - 46 in 9 seasons for an average annual win - loss record of 7.67 - 5.11 (median record 8 - 5).
Mullen's record at UF is 33 - 13 in 3.67 seasons for an average annual win - loss record of 9 - 3.5.

Discuss.

He had a .600 win %. Pretty good for modern SEC West.

Croom was .35%

Jackie Sherrill was .500

Rocky Felcker was .382

He should easily be considered the best coach there since the 1940s

I think its doable in 3, but have to be lights out 5 star recruiting. We need 5-6 of them each year, maybe more. Not the 1 sometimes 2 we get.

Okay, so here's what I bet: I bet they are aware that they're capable of hiring somebody like Muschamp or Mac or Zook. That was not something that they imagined; it was real life. I bet they come to their senses and hang on to Mullen for a long time. Florida will win the next 4 and things will seem a little different after that.

Mullen has his warts. Obviously doesn't seem to be an elite recruiter like other top tier SEC coaches. But Florida also doesn't have the aura it had 10 years ago when it was an elite program. And yet the lowest recruiting class he's had was ranked 14th.

Mullen is a good coach have a bit of bad luck in a rebuilding year. I hope Florida is dumb enough to fire him, but I have a feeling they won't.

As @Lawrence Wright and others say, next year he really needs to show some progress. If he loses to South Carolina or FSU this year, the pressure will be front and center to next year.
