Much respect for CJP for finishing what he started.

Disagree a great deal. Any negative, big or small, cast ripples down the pool. What if we miss out on an area of need because Pruitt hasn't had time to properly break down our returning players. He thinks we're good at a position but maybe we're not on closer analysis. Or the reverse, he doesn't think we're that good somewhere but we really are. He doesn't realize the player in that spot can actually play but was poorly coached or the scheme was wrong, so we end up recruiting someone when we could have focused on another area.

There are tons of reasons coaches work 16 hour days year round. There's an amazing amount of work to do and most complain they don't have enough time to do it.

Several coaches who stayed through their teams bowl at the coordinator level have admitted it was a mistake and that it negatively impacted recruiting.

so there's speculation here that he's already mis-evaluated the current roster, and we're chunking rocks in a pool.

it's a real shame he has to do all of this all by himself.........

Lol.

Naive coming from the "Thar nuttin to do rat now" crowd.

That is so rich.

Your stance on this isn’t even logical, which is why you’re alone on this. You still can’t give me any example of long term harm that is being done to the program right now with Pruitt in Tuscaloosa until next week.

This fanbase has largely been beaten into submission.

Tremendous lack of expectations.

what the heck does that have to do with any part of this conversation???? and how does it answer any point i've brought up or asked about?

He's not taking a month off. He is honoring his word and was upfront with Tennessee about doing so BEFORE he agreed to becoming our coach. He has been relentlessly recruiting and putting a staff together during the last month and we are better off for next season because of this effort. The alternative to this would have been that he would not have taken over ANY duties at Tennessee until AFTER Alabama's season was over....pick your poison!!!!!! Oh... I forgot.....we could have just stuck with Schiano and not been having this conversation!!!

Fulmer screwed us, I agree. But he should have said absolutely not on his demand to stay and help Alabama. Pruitt wouldn't have turned down a multi-million dollar raise and a shot at the big time over it and if he was dumb enough to turn it down, he's too dumb to coach here. Instead Fulmer got rooked. The man was never very good at hiring staff.

Who knows if he has or not, but you and I both know that spending a month breaking down Clemson for Alabama doesn't help us, at all. At the very best it only hurts us a little bit. At worst it hurts significantly.

I am not alone and would not care if I was.

You're a former Dooley honk with the masses. Numbers help your idiocy there?

This place is so predictable. Everyone’s congratulating Pruitt on his loyalty to his Bama players and his integrity, but if he would have jumped ship as soon as he signed with UT we would have threads patting him on the back for being a VFL

You sir are whats predictable. I also predict that your going to find some way to complain about anything. Dont go out to eat ever man because I promise the server spit in your food after you complained for 3rd time about something petty and silly.

I truly believe if Fulmer had said no to this condition Pruitt would have said thanks anyway and we may still be in a coaching search as of today with ZERO prospects for recruiting for next season.... some people just can't see the forest for the trees getting in the way!!!!!

so it could be just a little bit bad, or it could be really bad.

insightful.

If he wanted to be full time at UT right now he would be. Outside of money owed, the contract is irrelevant when discussing coaches

A contract is never irrelevant. Don't play "pick and choose." I also ask why did Kirby Smart do the same thing two seasons ago as coach Pruitt is doing this season and why aren't UGA fans upset with it the way some on here appear to be?

The honest answer is that a lot of Vol fans are miserable in life and it's reflected in their negative posts on VN. After UT's worse season in history and showing the nation how a dysfunctional administration/boosters conducts a football coaching search you'd think any sensible fan would be appreciative that we even got a decent coach at all. Much less one that could pull us up approximately 30 places in the recruiting rankings in 12 days. The staff is still trying to get even more talent to UT and likely will have some success in that but still not enough for some of the Vol fans.

Why not turn the page and move on at least until Sept.1 when we will all be in a better position to make any judgements pertaining to this new staff and the product on the field.

A former Dooley honk? Lol, ok.

Still waiting for you to describe the long term harm that awaits the UT program due to Pruitt’s decision. BTW, it’s the 4th time I’ve asked.

Your inability to read and comprehend is your issue. Ask 100 times if you want.

Your bar for uT is does it do long term harm. You have low expectations. Seems about right.

In other words, you have no answer. On a side note, didn’t Kirby Smart do the same thing Pruitt is doing? It clearly killed the Georgia program didn’t it.

so i went back and re read the thread just to see if i missed something.

and the only thing i can come up with for the folks that are "against" CJP coaching these play off games is that they just don't like it.

no one has given a tangible reason why it's bad for us. not 1 reason.

i've ripples in a pool. priorities. organizational duty. possibly misevaluation rosters. but nothing that says this why it's not good for TN and it's long term prospects as a football program........

Only one person was honest, and said it....they just didn't like it.

the rest is just drivel to support some narrative that has no basis in what is actually happening........

Jesus, if Pruitt can move our recruiting class up 20 spots "on idle" then imagine what he can do when he's actually trying.

You may be using or referring to a different recruiting site than me,(24/7), where we dropped to about mid 50's and currently stand at 22nd. That's over 30 spots but " he should be in Knoxville," he's actually getting more exposure to recruits by being on the field with Bama than he would be in Knoxville. Hell, UT players aren't even on campus this time of year considering we aren't playing a ball game. This whole thread is a mute point,IMO.

A football coach's contract is irrelevant outside of money owed. It's simply a game for agents and ADs. When has a contract prevented a coach from taking another job? When has it prevented a coach from being fired?

Your question about smart is also useless since his reasons are completely separate from Pruitt (plus he's at uga so who cares). Should we bring up Kiffin too?

He's coached against UT a few times....he's scouted UT a few times. For the most part, he knows who can play and who can't.
