MTSU guard says Golden was gassed

Golden is our worst starter.. He's had some good games, but nowhere near as many as the terrible ones he's had.. He's a bench player.. We desperately need a true pg.

C'mon man seriously???

With golden on the bench this team may have won 10 games at most.

I agree we need a true PG, but he was without a doubt the most important player for this team.

What happened to wearing the weight vests?

Funny note on that...

Apparently Tennessee used 25lb weight vest this year

Dykes was talking and said ccm told him the 30lb vest just came in and that he has the 50lb vests on order. Said something like they'll rather be in jail than workout or something iirc

Having played and coached the game, there was a point during the first half where he was expending a lot of emotion trying to get a flat team going. Not that this gives him a pass, but he didn't get much help, especially in the 2nd half.

Golden is played PG out of necessity IMO. I think he is a 2, and it has shown for the good and bad this year.

Yes! I think that is exactly correct. Mush like running a long race...they were flat early, had to expend energy to catch back up, and then just ran out of gas toward the end.

He was gassed you could tell it, and hurting to. However Massey had his way all game long so that isn't the reason he got beat. MTSU just ouplayed us. Period.

How can you be gassed from walking it up the floor and almost getting about a dozen backcourt violations when there isn't even pressure.

14 pts, 8 assts, ZERO TURNOVERS, 28 min.

EIGHT ASSISTS

At times, yes, he still makes some bad decisions, takes hurried shots, sometimes penetrates with no where to go.

But this is his FIRST full season being the man at the point. AND he had to learn CCM's system just like everyone else. He won most improved player in the SEC for cyin out loud. 4th in the SEC in apg. He's just a sophomore!!! He will improve under CCM!

Trae Golden will be a beast the next two years.

Trae hurt his knee thats why he was slow. It was on one of his drives to the basket where he was fouled hard and fell to the floor. He was limping from then on.

He definitely hurt himself in the second half. Strangely enough, I'm pretty sure it was on the runout that Skyler threw him. He was hobbling the rest of the game after that layup. If that was it, I guess he must have landed wrong.

Trae has been gassed in the second half of the last few games and it's noticeable. At the beginning of the year he was in incredible shape and I'm pretty sure he could have played the whole game if necessary. Some people keep pointing out his minutes per game and say that's average for most pgs but it's not that simple. We rely on Trae to do WAY more than pgs on other big time teams. He MUST bring the ball down the court under heavy pressure every possession because no one else can. When he comes out, he has to go back in immediately because we struggle to get it up the floor. Then when we get it up the floor he has the ball in his hands for more than half the possession and has to try to create something when the shot clock winds down. So it's not simply that he plays a lot of minutes, it's that he has to do so much during those minutes and I truly believe it just wore him down by the end of the season.
