My first time to see the Lady Vols in-person since 2008, when my wife and I went to see Candace before she moved on.
(Hmm... unintended, poignant ambiguity in that sentence.)

Doesn't appear to be many tickets left unsold. But weather may keep some home in front of the TV. Currently they're saying a rainy day & night, with evening temps in the mid '60s.

Anybody else here going? I would love to match some familiar avatars to real faces.

If anyone wants to make acquaintance, I'll be seated about 3/4's of the way up in Section E.
You don't have to share your volnation handle. That might make it awkward if you've called me ugly names online -- especially if you were right! ;)

My only orange jacket is one of those old, oversized things from the '90s, so it should be easy to spot.

MTSU is my alma mater, so I was hoping to make the trip. Have to teach this afternoon and then have AM meetings so just couldn't swing it sadly. Hope you have a great time!
Thanks! Similar circumstances for me. I'll be leaving straight from delivering a film talk presentation. But I've already decided to be selfish and won't be subbing tomorrow. Gotta be some benefits to retirement!

I did postgrad work at MTSU in the late '70s, back when there were only about 8,000 students. Pretty sure it's over 20,000 now. For sure, I don't expect anything to look familiar until I get inside the arena. LOL--hope I can find it in the dark from wherever I have to park!

OH! I've forgotten to ask the most important question!

Does anyone have recommendations for where to grab a tasty bite in Murfreesboro after the game?
(Whenever possible, I try to support local businesses.)

I would suggest Slick Pig and try the smoked wings and best potato salad I've ever experienced in my life

Thank y'all for the food recommendations. Unfortunately, everything but the chains were closed by the time I got out. Luckily I threw a protein bar and a bottle of water in the car before I left.

I just want to encourage anyone who, maybe like me, hasn't gone to a game in a long while, to GO see a game in person! You'll see some amazing athletes, and the style of play is exciting and MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE in person than on the screen.

I don't know about other arenas, but the crowd at MTSU (both blue and orange) were so nice, so friendly, such good hosts. I even made sure I spoke to their pep band leader to tell him how much I enjoyed their play and their "playful choreography!" It's good to hear live music instead of canned crap all the time.

My last live game was in Candace Parker's final season. As special as that team was to see, tonight was, I promise, much more exciting and interesting to watch! And fans need to see Janiah Barker play before she leaves. She is special! So smooth, so strong, and so big! Amazing in person.

It's worth the drive, worth dealing with apps and electronic tickets, and worth going in the rain and dark. Treat yourself!

Fun post I agree with 100%! I know there are lots of loyal fans who, for all kinds of good reasons, are never fortunate enough to attend a game in person. They would love nothing more than to be able to make the trip, but can never find a way to make it happen. But they love the program no less than longtime season ticket holders.

Because I know this, I think of those people every single game I attend, and I never take it for granted that I'll always be able to make the drive to see them in person. You are so right that it's much more impressive in person than on the screen, and the screen doesn't catch the excitement of the atmosphere and, like you mentioned, the amazing music and spirit.

I don't get to attend all the home games these days, and when I have to miss one I feel actual guilt for not being there. Once a person goes to a few games the pull to try to go to as many as possible is seriously strong. I always think about the folks who never get to go and I feel like I have to go because they can't. Yeah, I'm a nutcase. 😅🧡
