'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (Tennessee commit)

Does it?

Are you keeping track of recruits that move up in the rankings after committing to UT?
Someone did the math on this awhile back... recently... and it was pretty clear that there was more of a bump factor after recruits commit to Tennessee than the reverse. Like you're astutely pointing out, fans seem hyper-focused on the drops.

And it makes sense if you get how these recruiting sites work. They are mostly chasing these college evaluators.

I think its just because its our highest rated five star guys we follow most. truth is there has to be a thermostatic mechanism to all this, its a business.

one thing that gets overlooked is both Keys and Faizer have been injured. its not a conspiracy if a guy misses time and he drops some. its not like either have really fallen far.

availability is the best ability.

It's not a conspiracy but it can be argued it's a completely arbitrary reason to drop a prospect.

at least in a sport like football with a relatively short schedule, its not arbitrary at all. especially when some guys end up injury prone. you have a very limited amount of time you can help your team, if you aren't doing that you shouldn't be ranked very high.

All that is completely arbitrary. You can't see that? If not I won't debate you. Did Tristen Keys become a worse player because he missed a few games? Going by the recruiting sites' own logic, does he now project LOWER in the NFL draft because he missed a couple of HS games?

Unfortunately, nobody is guaranteed to be back next season do to NIL. We will place a value on these receivers and their agents will gauge the open market value which has proven to lead to some departures. The great thing is we have Smith & Jackson learning this year and a stacked WR recruiting class on the way. The future looks bright at WR. So far this season Stayley is performing better of the 2 IMO.

Corrected Jackson
I don't know man. Tennessee barely ever loses important pieces to the portal. Nico was the exception. Every other skill position lost to the portal was barely a contributor. Heupel has these kids bought in

Staley is a much much better slot guy then Squirrel
Because he can stay on his feet after a catch more than 15 yards down field lol… loves squirrel but he has never been confident in his hands but always been a fierce competitor at his size… rooting for him to do well at fsu but it was definitely Staley’s time..

True. And Squirrel’s size makes him very injury prone.

still not arbitrary. injuries can impact speed, cutting ability, acceleration, it can impact the mental part of it, does he trust it, does him worrying about the injury interfere with his catching. does it make him protect himself instead of fighting for those 2 extra yards like he used to.

you are fooling yourself if you think Justin Hunter was the same player before and after his injury.
Bru McCoy and Squirrel were others. injuries 100% do impact what goes on on the field.

it also cuts back on your development. you aren't getting better, or even staying the same, if you are on the side line the whole time. everybody who is playing is at least getting something out of it.

This. I was wrong on the receiver room. Squirrel would help this team, but I don’t think he’d start.
He’d be a nice depth piece. I think Matthews can always move in and Travis Smith or Jackson can play outside. Hopefully Jackson is ready to go again by next week though. He’s going to be a great player for us

A month for a broken collarbone? That seems WAY too fast. Don’t let it fully heal and it will snap again the next him he’s hit or just dives for a catch and lands on that shoulder.
Collarbone can be varying degrees. Bruise, chip, fracture, break. But again, I wouldn’t trust anything we hear regarding injuries. They knew Gibson’s status long before it came public.
