'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (Tennessee commit)

It was always ridiculous to think that. Why wouldn't Tennessee be able to recruit at an elite level again? This program has everything you'd want...money, unsurpassed fan support, facilities, Neyland Stadium, tons of talent within a 2-4 hour radius, one of the most recognizable brands in college sports, it's in the SEC, and Knoxville is a great college town in a beautiful area. All we lacked was functional leadership. Alabama went through the same thing.

Tennessee, organically, has one of the 5-10 most attractive situations in college football. It was the non-organic stuff that caused Tennessee to falter for so long. That's been corrected. It's an uphill climb, but we're on our way back to elite status.

Most people I’ve ever heard say it justified it by saying that teams like LSU, Bama, Georgia and Clemson are elite at recruiting now so there’s no “room at the table” so to speak since they are recruiting the same areas that we do.

They act as if we had somehow previously benefited from some special circumstances that allowed us to recruit at an elite level under Fulmer.

Just another example of “fans” and haters of the program hoping and praying that we stay in the gutter because they hate us so much.

Nevermind the fact he’s currently the #2 recruiter in the country and has coached a Biletnikoff winner.

Why do you keep bringing up recruiting? I haven’t complained about his recruiting. WR production in ‘23 and ‘24 was incredibly underwhelming, and that was not a controversial opinion to be held after either off-season. I just find it silly to dig up months old posts, particularly one’s that aren’t even relevant to your agenda. But I guess you’re trying to hunt as many likes as possible right now so keep going.

To be fair, how much better does he look if Nico hits even just 25% of the deep balls he missed last year?

He can't help the QB (Joe & Nico) not being consistent

How much better does he look if his receivers don’t drop so many passes? Milton threw one of the prettiest balls I’ve ever seen to Keyton against Virginia and it was dropped. Just one example.

This was not an issue to just pin on Nico and Milton. I get we’re all excited with the WR recruiting class right now, but seems there is some revisionist history going on for the sake of trying to dunk on people.

Okay okay, I like that we flipped Keys, but, He won’t be 17 when he steps on the field as a freshman. We need a youngster like that Bubba kid they always talked about last year! Now we’re talking…..

Keep? I mentioned it one time. Your OP was in response to losing a top WR recruit. I think you brought yourself into it.

Like I said before. Ain’t no agenda. Just having some fun. Apparently you don’t like being wrong, just like how you ignored ‘22 production.

Maybe just say it’s on the QB or OC, and I’ll agree and go on. You’re the one who seems to have an agenda against Pope. But carry on.

I’m perfectly fine with being wrong if my post was about how Pope was an awful recruiter. It quite literally says WR production needs to improve this year, which again wasn’t some groundbreaking and controversial post 6 months ago, so I don’t know why it is now.

I never said it was.

I never said it was.

I’m pretty sure pulling my post to dunk on it is implying that it was a dumb take. I think we all want the same thing, which is the unit to improve, so hopefully it actually is better this year then you can circle back in December and quote my post and dunk on me again for being wrong 🙃

Bro this is just for fun. We just got the #1 WR in the country. It’s just funny how takes can change. Time to celebrate and laugh at ourselves. 🫡

Disagree with my opinion? You've a right to whatever yours is but so am I. I am going off of what I've seen with my own eyes. You're bringing up a different sport entirely. There are a handful of salty fans but it seems to be the exception.
Yeah I love lsu fans for the most part. Same with our fanbase lol

Kelsey Pope can't catch it for them. That Keyton play was ALL Keyton...had nothing to do with Pope, not a thing. Whenever ball hits hands, coaches/coaching ends...ALL on player at that point. Any WR worth their weight in salt will tell you that.

And we’re still 5th in the league, LOL. Brutal

That's not how you look at rankings. You have to view the total points and average per recruit. Sometimes the gap between the 3rd ranked class and the 4th ranked class is larger than 4-7. And sometimes a team can have significantly more recruits than a team ranked lower than them but have a much lower average recruit rating.

You don't need to be #1 in the recruiting rankings to win the national title. You just need to consistently near the top. And we're getting to that point.

Everything can always improve. But just watch the film. Arkansas and Ohio State game film have popped up recently, and it isn't good from the QB perspective. It's all out there if people really care to see it.

What people don't watch are the non-throws where the WR never got the ball. The bailing out of the pocket when a QB normally resets in the pocket. Somehow people just dismiss that.

Average per recruit is the main one I look at, unless the number of commits is low. Right now our average recruit is a 4 star (91.48 IIRC), which is in the same realm as all the other big boys.

I assume this is probably a joke but I predict this will find its way on Twitter/X on the Message Board Geniuses account 😂
