'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (lsu commit)

Per VQ

As for Keys, we continue to believe the field has more traction here than LSU. Tennessee has long had the best relationships here and so we firmly believe that could be pivotal down the stretch. He is constantly talking to Faizon Brandon and has a really nice vibe going on with the Tennessee commit.

Texas A&M also has momentum here as well as they battle Tennessee to flip him. The biggest questions for Keys are, does he take visits this fall like most expect and when might he decide to make a decision one way or the other in his recruitment?

You think we told Jean-Mary to leave?

Also we have one 5*, four 4*, and two 3* at WR. I’ve yet to understand how that’s supposed to be bad?
Name a wideout recruited by this staff in the last five years that has been drafted. Hyatt and Tilman were recruited by the last staff. We have also not replaced the production of either of those guys since they were drafted. We aren't winning titles without Wideouts getting drafted. Heupel is an offensive genius. We should not have to struggle like this given the success of the offense.

I don't know what happened with Jean-Mary. I know Inge is going into his second year and has 2 top 10 LB's committed. That's called an upgrade in recruiting, and the linebackers were young but played well last year. So... If you ask me, I would love to see some coaches upgrade that produce recruiting results like Inge has in his first two years, like Garner has done his entire career, and Heupel has at qb.

1. Only 2 classes have even been draft eligible yet, and 1 of those classes was Huepel's first year where we lost most of our signing class when we fired Pruitt.

2. We've had 4 WRs play well enough to get drafted under Huep. For the record, that is the same amount as UGA over the same period, despite UGA consistently bringing in better recruiting classes before and during Huep's tenure.

Ok, let’s do some simple math.

How many seasons has Heupel coached here? 4

How many years minimum does a player have to be out of high school to go to the NFL? 3 (which is pretty rare)

First recruiting class doesn’t count. It just doesn’t. Second recruting class we were still a joke to most kids and sanctions still in full effect.

So the kids he inherited are the ones playing the first 2-3 years. Jones, Tillman, Hyatt got drafted.

Stay with me. Recruiting starts to pick up year 3 as we are showing significant progress on the field. Admittedly, High School WR recruiting wasn’t great that year, but we got Thornton from the portal. Thornton got drafted

We are going into year 5. How long has his 4th recruiting class, when things really started cooking, been on campus? 1 year you say? But to go to the NFL you have to be 3 years removed from campus?

So is it REALLY that surprising that he hasn’t had a HS recruit at WR drafted in 4 years, when it’s 3 years MINIMUM before they would even be eligible?

If in the next couple years you don’t see guys like Matthews, Brazzell, and Staley start to get drafted you will have a valid argument. For now, the grade is incomplete.

Hyatt was a nothing burger in college before this staff.

But Pope’s first WR class would’ve been the ‘23 class. He was hired in March ‘22.

So he’s recruited:

- Seldon who played RB here
- Leacock
- Nate Spillman who we prob took to be in good graces with Edward Spillman
- Thornton from portal (drafted)

He’s also recruited:

- Brazzell from portal

And that concludes the draft eligible WRs that have been recruited under Pope.

He’s also recruited:

- Mike Matthews
- Braylon Staley
- Travis Smith Jr
- Radarious Jackson
- Joakim Dodson
- Amari Jefferson from portal

Additionally can you name a QB that Heup recruited that has been drafted from UT? Joe from the portal. That’s it.

Do you know how many players Garner has recruited while @ UT that have been drafted? TWO. Pearce and Norman-Lott who was a transfer.

See how this argument falls apart pretty quickly?

Staff hasn’t been here long enough to make proclamations about their ability to recruit and develop NFL players.

Much more concise and to the point than my response.

Nonsense, Heupel should have had MULTIPLE HS recruits at every position drafted by year….. 4 🙄

Can’t roll my eyes hard enough at some of the nonsense I see on here
