'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (lsu commit)

No it doesn’t, it’s not even close either. Smart is 10x the recruiter evaluator and talent developer than Heupel. Schumann is a significantly better DC than Halzle is an OC. Bobo is at the very least no worse at his job than Banks is his. At receiver their 3 players have all been better in the NFL than our 3 that have been drafted. Outside of Mitchell and Tillman, that’s probably a wash, but Ladd and Pickens are in a different category from Hyatt and VJJ. Let’s not even get started on their secondary and LBs compared to ours. The only spot where we may have a coaching advantage over Georgia is when it comes to our DL vs their OL. Their staff is so good that Muschamp had to become an analyst because they were out of staff spots

You are going to be real sad when the Vols beat up on UGA this year.

Because I’m honest? I despise Georgia. I probably hate them worse than Bama, but their coaching staff is better than ours and there’s no argument against that fact. Could that change in time? There’s no doubt it could, but right now we have an entire side of the football that could easily be fired at the end of the season outside of Sims and it wouldn’t surprise anyone in the fanbase and most would support it. Do y’all think any Georgia fans want any members of their staff other than Mike Bobo gone?

Not sure how you found your way into the Tristen Keys thread seeing as though Georgia is not a player in this commitment. Seems to me you probably should work on your literacy before hijacking a thread so the board can observe you deepthroating the Georgia coaching staff

I bet they want their receivers coach gone those dudes can’t catch sh!t. And I imagine their oline and rb play has them ok with whatever qb trots out there whether it’s a 5 star first round projected pick or a 7th year backup turned starter.

Smart has the EASIEST recruiting job in the country. Georgia is loaded with talent and he is HC at the only national level program in the state. Not only that but their HS talent plays against elite competition and gets training on par or better than any other state. Georgia HS players from the get-go come in closer to college ready than most.

There was a time when UT was courting him. It is very unlikely he would have done as well as Heupel has in any respect.

That amount of talent can make any coach look good. At UGA, a coach's success more or less comes down to being "good" and not doing anything stupid. Smart will never leave so it is a moot point... however my wager would be that he could not achieve anything like that level of success anywhere else except maybe UF, tOSU, USC, or Texas.

Was just posting similar to above. Ga is easier to recruit. Period. Pull talent from hotbeds florida, Alabama, SC and Ga where parents and extended family can get to games easy and kids want to stay near home, which many do.
We have to build our team around kids who want to leave home. We can’t build a team with a 3 hour radius around Knoxville.
He also lucked into Stetson. Forced to play him. They never woulda won a title with Smarts qb plan.
Of course his players will look better at their positions when they are more talented than the opponent with a 4* or two waiting to sub.

Why would we fire a OL coach when we had the highest yards per attempt in the conference in 2024 and second highest in 2023?

Alec Abeln has had thr TEs playing great and it appears it will only get better.

Your honesty seems to be pretty anti-Vol if you cant see the good that is happening after last year.

You're wasting your breath. Most the posters on here are fine with Second Tier Coaches, and a Second Tier NIL. We have had 5-6 of the 17 draftees in the last 4 years that were recruited by the current staff. Not one OLineman drafted since Wright. Most of the 5 or 6 are DLineman. Qb and DLine are the only spots recruited really well. Our OLine development is laughable. At least he has recruited better the last two years, but the tackles didn't play well last year, and no one developed behind the starters after 5 recruiting classes. OLine, Recievers, RB, and DB coaches have missed every big name in the last five classes.

It is way past time to pass judgement on these position coaches, and how horribly inept our NIL collective is. They've been here long enough to see. We have averaged a 15th nationally ranked class the last 5 years. The best was 10th. 4 of those 5 classes ranked 8th in the SEC, the other class was 4th.

I can't fathom how we are going to beat Georgia, Bama, LSU, Florida, Texas, and A&M consistently with less talent. That's just a fact. We are a second tier team because we are getting second tier results from everyone not named Garner. The only thing to be satisfied about is that at least we don't get blown out by 50 in Neyland anymore, but it is now time to be honest about these coaches. Heupel and Garner have overperformed to get the results we are getting, but that can only go on for so long. They'll have the built in Nico excuse for this year even though there is two other 4 star qbs on the team.

What will the excuse be when we don't get this kid? NIL getting outbid? Meanwhile LSU is pumping out NFL wideouts left and right, and we have Pope... It's time to get rid of assistant coaches that underperform. Ohio State spent 20 mill to out talent us, and it was obvious.

Same fans that used to want Banks fired

Quick, how long does a recruit need to be on campus to be draft eligible?

I can understand wanting more. I want better recruiting, coaching, etc. I get caught up in this same line of thinking sometimes, but then I remember that it is hard to argue with the results so far. When Pruitt got fired in 2021, I thought it was over for us. I told myself I would be happy if we ever made a bowl again and I thought the program would be nuked by the NCAA. What Heupel has done since then is incredible. Is there improvement to be had? Absolutely and I think CJH would be the first person to tell you that. I think the recruiting can improve, but there are some schools (Texas, Bama, UGA, etc.) that will almost always recruit better than us no matter what we do.

improvement is expected. Complaining about where we are is churrish.
And if you want to complain about not enough NIL, max your credit cards out and chip in. I find most of those who complain about lack of NIL donate nil. They just complain.

We went toe to toe with the Natl champs recruiting David Sanders in NIL. We made the college football playoff. I'm really not with the sunshine brigade when people do voice legit concerns, but some of these folks need to touch grass.
