'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (lsu commit)

I’m just not sure it’s fair for our pitch to secure his commitment to be reliant on how our offense performs this fall with a brand new QB we had to pull in at the 11th hour and an entirely new receiving corps that is young and inexperienced.

I would hope he would be more deliberate in his decision because I don’t want it to just come down to “Did the offense perform well?” I’m just not sure we are set up for success on offense this year with how the off-season went down, something that was out of our control.
I agree it's not fair on our end, but I do think it's fair for the No.1 receiver in the country to be skeptical about what our passing game has shown on the field here recently.

I don't think you need 2022 production by any means but it can't be as inept as what we saw last season. Receiver is the most dependent position in football and he has to feel like he's going somewhere that can get him the ball and allow him to make plays.

We will win in the end here just gotta spread the ball around in the fall and stretch the field more than last year
We stretched the field a ton last year
Bama and Florida aren’t close if Nico can hit passes
We just need a QB that can hit deep passes and make the offense fun to watch again for recruits

I think his heart has always been at TN. You show an improved passing game this season and come December he’s in this class imo.
improved passing game is going to be tricky from an optics standpoint, when we will have a brand new QB and a bunch of unproven, limited experience WR's... hopefully he can see past this and note where we are trending...

I hope he is more influenced by his peer QB recruit we have than a probable one year backup plan. Next seasons room looks awfully good and GMAC and our 5 star will be here the whole time he is.

I think our offense will be better than last year by a considerable margin. Our passing game was anemic last year. Our running game will be strong again, but way more evenly distributed between likely three guys.

Very well could be. Honestly I’m not dogging on Nico because he’s gone but from the very start, even against bad teams, he struggled!

I remember being told he was a taller Bryce Young. Not even close. He had moments but all in all, he was average to below average lots of the time.

I actually think we need Brazzell to show out. Have him get drafted. Show we can put receivers in the league.

It’s why I hated that Bru didn’t get picked.

I also think if Tillman can get back to the 5+ receptions a game he was averaging right before his concussion last year and guys like Thornton, Hyatt, and Keyton can make some plays, it’ll help

You're wasting your breath. Most the posters on here are fine with Second Tier Coaches, and a Second Tier NIL. We have had 5-6 of the 17 draftees in the last 4 years that were recruited by the current staff. Not one OLineman drafted since Wright. Most of the 5 or 6 are DLineman. Qb and DLine are the only spots recruited really well. Our OLine development is laughable. At least he has recruited better the last two years, but the tackles didn't play well last year, and no one developed behind the starters after 5 recruiting classes. OLine, Recievers, RB, and DB coaches have missed every big name in the last five classes.

It is way past time to pass judgement on these position coaches, and how horribly inept our NIL collective is. They've been here long enough to see. We have averaged a 15th nationally ranked class the last 5 years. The best was 10th. 4 of those 5 classes ranked 8th in the SEC, the other class was 4th.

I can't fathom how we are going to beat Georgia, Bama, LSU, Florida, Texas, and A&M consistently with less talent. That's just a fact. We are a second tier team because we are getting second tier results from everyone not named Garner. The only thing to be satisfied about is that at least we don't get blown out by 50 in Neyland anymore, but it is now time to be honest about these coaches. Heupel and Garner have overperformed to get the results we are getting, but that can only go on for so long. They'll have the built in Nico excuse for this year even though there is two other 4 star qbs on the team.

What will the excuse be when we don't get this kid? NIL getting outbid? Meanwhile LSU is pumping out NFL wideouts left and right, and we have Pope... It's time to get rid of assistant coaches that underperform. Ohio State spent 20 mill to out talent us, and it was obvious.
😂😂 you people are a special special breed

I would argue Heupel has overperformed. If he is going to keep it up, he will have to retool the staff sooner than later. Money isn't the only reason we are losing out to all these top tier recruits. We lost Keys because LSU has put a bunch of guys in the league. We aren't going to flip him for the same reason.
I do not think Keys is a flip candidate. He is only a player for money and would possibly be a cancer if added to our roster. If he wanted to be here he would have committed here.

We wouldn't be talking to him anymore if this was the case. Tennessee more than likely knows the number and is still going full court press on him.

Yes, but if our brand new QB can read a defense at all we will have a lot of improvement.

Let's make a definitive statement about something we literally have ZERO actual knowledge about. America's favorite pastime.

Definitely a possibility AND maybe our commit leaders get him to sign on for less money as was indicated on Rouse. He and our QB, Mr. FB can help him be a part of this class. Obviously we have done a great job getting and keeping his attention and the staff deserves an attaboy for playing out our hand regardless. Finishing in the money has more significance and value in today’s portal world.

Same with Hiter. Elevates us up the relevance board bigtime.

Ooohhh, so in other words simmons is implying Keys wont be at lsu and since he name dropped ut it’s safe to assume we’re the favorite?

Technically he said the more people he talks to that they tell him to take the field over LSU in the end.

But yes it seems like UT is the favorite potential flip destination. Also basically said LSU will pull out all the stops to try and keep him, as expected.

Gotcha, definitely seems like good news though
