This guy has 16 commits, 9 four stars, and 7 three stars (many of whom are 5.7, and .1away from being a four) commits.

How in the heck is he the #11 ranked recruiter in the nation? Which 10 recruiters exactly are doing a better job than he is?

(All of my numbers came from 247)

I hope he gets no accolades or exposure about recruiting. Less chance of him being hired away.

Not to mention that cab recruiting effectiveness projections are about add difficult as stacking BBs. Remember the threads on UT recruiting stars being equal to Oregon? That should get the point across about recruiting rating accuracy.

Our competition will attempt to hire him away from us.

That would be a double hit. (1) We lose him and it effects our recruiting in a negative way (2) They gain him and it helps their recruiting.

bUTch better pay him before other colleges come knocking.

We'd also be losing an at least decent LB coach. Last thing this defense needs right now is another staff shakeup, IMO.

I hope he gets every accolade because he is top 3 recruiters in America. I also hope we throw the bank at him and Martinez.

He has done a great job recruiting, my problem is his product on the field. Sandlot teams play better. Maybe that is why his ranking isn't better, they are throwing in his on field coaching.

Or, maybe the talent level isn't there to coach yet.

Couple things wrong with this-

1. There are only 2 LBs on our team that would be on any SEC teams 2 deep- AJ and Curt, and Curt hasn't even played. AJ is a very average lb. Our talent level is not good at that position. Why do you think we have recruited so many?

2. Thig hasn't been able to recruit his players. I feel we can make a better judgement once his players he has taught for a couple years start playing.

3. Thig had successful LBs at Auburn. He didn't have Dooley LBs. A lot of the LB production falls on the DL as well, where we have not much talent.

It's just a little to soon to say he can't coach

You may be right. I hope you are, Wilcox hid his weaknesses, Thig hasn't shown that quality. But I am on your side because I want us back.

'14 class is the first class they are able to recruit the players they really want. '13 class they basically had to get whomever was available or persuaded to change since they came in late.

Jancek is more to blame about hiding weakness than Thig imo. I think it's to early to judge him as well. We will be back fiji. Count on it

Oh believe me if this coaching staff gets us to a bowl game and pulls in a top 10 recruiting class they will all get a much deserved raise.

I didn't realize that so many of our 3* star commitments are that close to being a 4*. That's phenomenal!

You know..I told my husband when Thigpen was hired that you would see a difference in our recruiting and you will see us snag some elite athletes. Well proof is in the pudding and the results will be the Vols rising to the top.

Btw, does anyone know how many commitments that Martinez is solely responsible for? I knew that he was supposed to be a really great recruiter as well.

I don't see how you call a guy predicted as a late first/second rounder as average. Otherwise I agree completely.
