Mr. Sheriron Jones

I wouldn't count out Sheriron next Spring. Even if G and Dormady have better arms, if Jones has better leadership, better decision making, and better poise, he could win it.

Personally I admire the kid. Most players in his position would have already switched positions to get on field as receiver or db wherever. He hasnt stopped his dream of QB.

Generally and historically speaking, Vol fans suck at evaluating quarterbacks. Don't try this at home.....

I agree AND I need to remind everyone Dobbs was a #3 QB who was pressed into service. I recall posting that Peterman was an unknown quantity one never knows how a kid is going to do when the lights come on and he has to perform. Worley down, Peterman swooned, Dobbs took over and been there since. Were Dobbs to go down there's no guarantee Dormady could handle it, he could swoon as well. Enter Sheiron Jones.

It sure would be nice to see how the backups really perform during a game - not just garbage time. Perhaps having evaluated Dobbs and Peterman somewhere other than the practice field or with carefully scripted do nothing mop up plays would have resolved that problem of having to watch Peterman swoon when we needed a real replacement at a critical time.

I agree. I will say us wanting Casey Clausen in 2000 instead of Joey Matthews & AJ Suggs is one of few that proved to be the right one. Most as you have eluded to have blown up in our face.

Don't count Jones out going forward. Not many people thought Dobbs would be the guy over Fergie. You never know how these things will work out.

I would start him this weekend if it were up to me. We know what Dobbs can do and it would be a reward for Sheriron for being seemingly the only player fired up early last game. Either that or Dormady plays the 1st half and Sheriron starts the 2nd half.

Absolutely. Let QD play the first half and Jones play the second. I say let Dobbs rest and get ready for the gauntlet.

I have a great deal of respect for the way Jones handled transferring and coming back. I also have a great deal of respect for his love and passion for the game/team on the sideline. That being said, I don't think we ever see him under center in significant minutes of the game.
