9th Anniversary of the Man's death. Never has an artist appealed to more mass generations than JR CASH. The epitome of bad ass. RIP CASH.

I remember what I was doing when I heard the news he died. One of may all-time faves.

I was at the Opry the day he died. Josh Turner sang an awesome rendition of Ring of Fire.

Whoaaaa tap the brakes there. He was great and maybe in the top 3, but I'm not willing to crown him.

If he's in the top 3, then well, he has to be at least in the conversation of greatest then, no?

I'd have to think on if to see if he would make my top 3. I did say "maybe". There are some great writers within his own generation.

I'm not a big fan of 60's/70's music, so I can't fully judge or make a list.

That's kinda my thing I guess. I listen to a ton from that era. The folk stuff that turned mainstream gets lost in the shuffle but even then you have guys like Dylan and Nelson, John Fogerty, it's just tough.

And I'm trying to list just those that I consider "writers". Singing wasn't these guys strong suit to tell you the truth.

Much better song writers than Cash, but Cash owned every song that he did in a manner that no one else could. Every song he sang was delivered in a way that no other artist could, if that makes any sense. You believed and hung on his every word. That is what puts Cash ahead of everyone else IMO

If you've never done it, put in Johnny Cash Show on You Tube. He had a lot of great and diverse guest why back when. He definitely was a good guy. And, funny. Always taking up for those that couldn't take up for themselves....................Hello, I'm Johnny Cash.......

What a surprise Billy C making facts up again. The video was filmed in February of 2003, June Carter Cash died May 15th, 2003, Johnny died September 12th 2003. Neither of those were 16 days after.
