That's what they're calling Dooley over on the Florida boards. They are so astounded that he would spend so much on a pair of orange pants when one can find an awesome pair of jorts at a garage sale for 50 cents. :birgits_giggle: Sounds like they're a bit intimidated.....FEAR THE PANTS!

The britches were expensive (apparently)...but look at all the media attention and the response from the fans. Money well spent in my opinion.

Seriously, I am going to get some. ORANGE PANTS! The only thing as good was Bruce's ORANGE BLAZER. I love it and they hate it. Why, because their staff is unimaginative and has no personality. Charlie Weis? Will Muschamp? Not exactly going to have their own reality shows. CDD is the man and the man has the pants.

You are correct my friend. Fear the pants.

I think that is the amount of yards of fabric used (1.3xx). They bought the fabric online and someone hand made the pants. They showed the video at Neyland last week and I think it is on utsports.tv.

So that tailor honestly didn't make those for him for free? Unless it's not a local tailor. I figured they were a gift or UT bought them for him.

You're probably right, I certainly don't trust a Gator fan to get the math right. :p

According to them, he spent over $1400 on them. At least the man's got taste!

This is why the Internet can be so dangerous.

The $1400 price that is going around is based on somebody tweeting a still picture from the Pants video shown on the Jumbotron. In the video, a tailor picks up a work order and if you look close enough there are figures on the work order. It's not $1422.32 as being reported but 1 y 22.32 which actually stands for 1 yard 22.32...... telling the tailor how much yardage will be used to make the pants. Now, somebody has tweeted it said $1422.32 and its gone viral.

I'm in the mens apparel manufacturing business and it generally takes 3 yards to make a suit and a little over 1 yard to make pants.

However, now that its out there as $1400..... then its fact.

Mr. fancy pants, I like that. Well we made fun of Spurrier and his visor all the years and he did pretty well. CDD probably got the idea form his dad.

Technically is wasn't Bruce's orange blazer. He was borrowing from a Ray Mears tradition.

Thanks for the insight. I would love to attempt to explain this to the jort lovers but they probably still think anything over a dollar is "fancy".

This was caused by GVX. Earlier they indicated that was the cost (in the headline). Here's the retraction:

Editor's note: The blog post indicated the cost for Derek Dooley's orange pants at $1,423.32. The numbers actually stand for 1 yard 23.32 inches for the yardage of fabric it took to make the trousers, according to Joe Taylor, who works in sales at John H. Daniel.
