Im orig from TN and looks like I am going to be getting transfered to Knoxville, but the problem is I dont know Knox well enough to know where to look and what to avoid. My office is basically the far eastern side of Knox, right by the old asheville hwy and holston hills country club. I will have my wife and our young daughters with us so we will obviously want to avoid the"dangerous" areas but are trying to stay somewhat close to where my office is. I have no problem going a little father east for a place, I am really just trying to avoid the west side because im thinking that will be a long drive everyday.

So guys, any recommendations of good areas to check and ones to avoid?

Thanks!!

my dad's not far from there out off 11w. You can find some nice pieces of land if you want to go that route. Of course he had to build a suitable house but it was worth it to him to have the open space

As much as it pains me to agree with PJ, he's right.

You could also checkout Blaine. You're getting into real BFE at that point tho.

BFE?

Thanks for the help guys, these are places we have already started looking but its nice to have reassurance that where your looking is a good area. any Knox suburbs to keep an eye out for?

I suggest you try the Urban Dictionary for your BFE definitions.

In the area you're looking...not really.

Whatever you do though, if you move to Jefferson County...do not go to the Jefferson County fair.

Sweet Jesus...

Why? I love that redneck fiesta. It brings the worst from Grainger, and Cocke counties

I live in Oak Ridge and love it. But it's a drive to East Knox

There are some beautiful home sites and existing homes that are out far enough but still close enough and offer a very "country feel" out near/around Ruggles Ferry Golf course.

+1 strawberry plains and mascot. There's a new subdivision on ruggles ferry with some homes. Lots of cops on this side but beats being on the other side of the bridge :)

Holston hills all the way. We have quite a few houses with large lots here. I can put you in touch with a really good realitor for east if you want
