Some people believe a loss can be a good thing, others think there is no such thing. We will soon find out.

Three days from now is the midway point of the SEC conference schedule for most teams. Six teams have all but been eliminated (A&M, LSU, Miss State, Arkansas, Vandy, Mizzou). Three teams are in the middle of the pack (Ole Miss, Florida, and UGA). Finally, you have UT, UK, Auburn, South Carolina, and Alabama fighting for the top spot.

What do the Vols need to do to get there? First, don't lose again at home. Yes that means going 5-0 and beating Auburn and UK. Second, have to find a way to win 2/3 of @bama, @UK, and @South Carolina. Third, can't slip against the easy teams on the road @Mizzou and @Ark. If they do those three things then you're looking at a 3-4 SEC loss team that holds the tiebreakers against the others. I really think that SEC champ will have 4 SEC losses. Will the Vols regroup after that performance against USC? We will find out in about 72 hours once we take the trip up I-75.

Low odds after last night. In fact we are pretty much done if we lose Saturday. If we could somehow find a way to beat Ky then it wipes this one out and we are back in decent shape.

Low odds meaning +160 and betting favorites to win SEC as of this morning on DraftKings?

Last night's game was torture to watch. The refs were atrocious but so was our offense. I hope the team responds.

Same.......really hope this pissed the team off and they put on their big boy britches and play some ball. Now is a good time to refocus their minds, get them right, and go on a nice little run headed into March Madness.

We have to win a bunch of tough road games moving forward so yes, it's low odds. Too many teams involved for one thing. It starts Saturday. A great oppurtunity to reestablish ourselves as the favorites.

You can’t lose games like last night at home if you want to win the SEC but that doesn’t mean much when it comes to the NCAA tournament. We could still get on a nice run like we did last year and South Carolina is also better than I thought.

Right now, just gotta focus on beating UK in Rupp. Do that and it essentially cancels out the loss to SC and we are back where we thought we would be at the end of this week.

Don't see us beating KY at Rupp nor Bama in T-Town. Both are very tough to beat there. Have to win the rest and see what happens.

So why even show up? Some of you are too much.

The same could easily have been said for SC coming into TBA last night, right? Or does it only work the other way around?

Last night was one of those games, a perfect storm of missed layups, missed free throws, and atrocious officiating. Thankfully, it's January, not March. Win Saturday and we're back in business - hell, even if we lose Saturday, it's not the end of the world. There's a lot of season left, and this is a solid group that will use games like this as motivation.

This is a really tough league, there are few gimme wins, and UK, Auburn, and Bama are finding out the same thing. And not just the SEC - look at Duke UNC, and Kansas taking 'bad' losses. All that matters is playing well going into March. Just relax.

After last night’s loss, the only thing I care about is the next game and coming out with intensity and focus and playing like we should. The biggest thing going forward is for someone to step up and produce on the offensive end to help Knecht out. It doesn’t have to be one guy but we can’t have multiple games where every other guy outside of Knecht is in single digits. JJJ is going to have to help out in some way offensively. He just has to on some nights but I don’t see it happening much.
