Like many, watching CFB Conference Championships… good entertainment so far, but LSU needs to step it up in 2nd half.
Created this thread because on my daily walk I thought about responding to a few of the different VN threads out there…. this is just a consolidated response to a few of them I thought important:
1. CFP committee. Someone recently posted a thread asking why there was so much chatter/questioning of the CFP committee. My $.02 (since I was among others in VN calling them out) is that there’s really no difference than fans being upset/questioning referee’s judgement/calls in games or CFP committee judgements. The CFB world has placed a great deal of faith and responsibility into this “playoff” system.” Fans/enthusiasts definitely should expect/demand that committee follows the rules/guidelines that CFP (not us) developed and advertised to CFB fans to sell everyone on the “new” system.
2. 2022-2023 Bowl. Like many of you, I now expect VOLS to go to the Orange Bowl. While I know and respect some friends/family who are TarHeels, I’m hoping for a game against Clemson because I’m a little selfish for opportunities to further propel Volunteers path to excellence (and redemption for longtime fans) by beating a “normal“ CFP team. At the end, beating either ACC champion (Clemson or UNC…. we’ll see tonight) is a really good path to further draw in talent to our football team from across the mid-Atlantic region to Tennessee.
3. The here and now. While amusing last year (e.g. VOLS sending Milton to overthrow the Taliban), I’m all-in for Joe and our beloved VOLS. For VN, please stop the team-defeating nonsense threads (I’m sure our players read our musings) - Joe Milton has remained a VOL and obviously has talents/gifts to be a great QB for our team in 2022-2023. Personally, I think he’s miles ahead of Anthony Richardson/etc as an impact player and I hope he will beat the wheels off a likely ACC champion in our coming bowl. This game will be his chance for “redemption“ for last year’s game vs Pitt (the last game I attended) and will set the tone for our 2023 season. I’m really hoping Joe will follow the Hooker model to put his heart/soul into self/team improvement. I also sincerely hope VN doesn’t drive Joe away as he’s absolutely a key to our progression. I really expect that Joe can help team (and Nico) in achieving all what we so desperately desire (feeling like 98!) for next year and the years ahead.
4. 2023 Sesson. We have a favorable 2023 season schedule, and have the staff and momentum to continue moving forward to the promised land of championships (both conference and national). Like life, there’s going to be some up’s/unexpected downs that we’re going to have to deal with… that’s what makes it interesting.

All my Best Vol Nation - wishing both our team and all of you happiness and success as we are about to turn the page from 2022 to 2023
