I guess we'll know in a few years what it means. At this point, none of it means squat. They don't hand out hardware in Feb.

It would be great, but I don't think we end up with Green. I think he goes to Meeshegin.

Vonn Bell would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath until NSD. We saw last year with Peters and Santos how finnicky (sp?) these kids can be until that ink is dry.

This. I always love looking at the top classes from a few years ago. So many "greats" turn out to be busts!

Look at Florida & what happened to them last night. I love seeing them get curb stomped & in so doing some of their recruits could & will take another look around & maybe see TN in a new light. Florida is not all that. We just need a couple more good skill players to come in & we will have some competition against these teams that we used to beat. :good!:

I'll take a top 30 class that stays together for 4 years over a class with a bunch of D-Ricks who cause trouble and leave early.

Went from 44 to 39 by adding one 3 star recruit!

Wonder what would happen if we added a 5 star like green.....

I think we are going to get a top 20 class no matter what......Maybe top 15

http://http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/teamrank/2013/all/all

Recruiting does matter, to a degree, but as long as we are in the top 30, we will be fine.

Boise State is not in the top 30 and they do well against Oklahoma, Oregon, etc. etc.

Troy is not in the top 30 for recruiting and they out played us and should have won.

Look at our top recruiting classes. Bryce Brown, Mike Edwards, etc. etc. Arnett, etc. What good did it do for us to be in the top 10 in recruiting but some of the players didn't play 3 seasons or they were not developed?

That top 10 finish didn't translate on the field performance.

I'm not knocking recruiting, but there are so many factors that come into play. These are 18-19 year old kids, after all.

The "*" system isn't an objective ranking. Give me a kid with heart who busts his butt and I'll take him over a Bryce Brown type any day.

I agree totally. Green sorta sounded like it was Mich.

How high were Louisville's classes ranked seeing as they just beat the tar out of all those 4&5 star recruits? Its about finding players that are going to get better in college and being able to get them better. A lot of the highly ranked recruits have topped out. It happens more often than you think.

Man do you know we didn't even get in a bowl. I don't think them loosing in a bowl game helps us when we didn't even get to a bowl

UF beats the crap out of UL in a regular season game.

UF had no motivation, UL had plenty.

That is what Bowls game have become. Many times your best players don't want to be there or are thinking about the NFL.

Sad thing is that it was a BCS bowl. It's not like the "Krystal Fargo Bowl".

True but still no excuse for their performance. It was bad and that comes down to coaching.

You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a mule. Even if that mule is a beast of a mule on the best steroids and donkey growth hormones available. Applies to SEC recruiting as well.

I agree that there is no excuse, but it is the sad reality.

I disagree on the coaching part. You don't go 11-1 with bad coaching. It happened to Saban in the 09 Sugar Bowl as well when Utah kicked their azzes.

Or Stanford's recruiting classes....heart, determination, football I.Q., solid athleticism for a 3*.....throw in the right style of system with superior coaching and then you get the Stanford's and Louisville's and Boise St's of the NCAA.
