Losing to them absolutely feels terrible. However, there are some reasons to feel good going forward.

1. ESPN FPI has been spot on with us all year. They gave us a 29% chance to beat Bama. Everyone else on our schedule they have us over 60%
Everything is still in front of us

2. Everyone must remember, we lost two starting cornerbacks at the start of the season. These guys aren't supposed to be good.

3. This is a future prediction. BJM recruited good but not great running backs. Inge is much better. We have some dudes moving forward. It just sucks that they are freshmen.

4. Heupel went back to his aggressive nature, going for work on multiple fourth downs on the road. I get it cost us the game but many were complaining about lack of killer instinct last week.

5 . We still have everything in front of us.

Guys, I get the frustration but many of us saw 9-3 as our expectation with all of our starters playing all year. This is still a fun team if we let ourselves enjoy it. We aren't natty bound And for me this year that's okay.

You will be met with mostly snide remarks .... but I think it's a reasonably good "the glass is half full" sort of thread. This place needed it.

We are exactly where 95% of this board predicted us to be preseason, slightly behind Bama and UGA

OP, you are correct about this team, we are exactly where I thought we would be. I expected us to lose to GA, and Bama and we have. My issue is that the DL, LB and safeties have played crap football and I did not expect that. I give the corners a pass as we did not expect to lose both starters for the season. I also did not expect Heupel to go into prevent mode on offense late in games.
I expect us to go 9-3 this year but to be real I could see us going 8-4 with loses to OK and FL or Vandy (never thought I would say that this year).

True .... I think it's how we got here that is so darn frustrating.

A missed 42 yard field goal and the slop fest from last night make it hard to see the big picture.
The question is in people's minds is what is a "successful" season this year with our injuries and such?

- if Tennessee goes 10-2 and makes the playoffs but loses a close first round game to Ole Miss or Georgia Tech or Miami on the road?
- if Tennessee goes 10-2, wins a first round game vs BYU or Notre Dame at home but gets beat 35-31 by Ohio St or Georgia in 2nd round?
- if Tennessee goes 10-2, barely misses the playoffs and loses to USC in the Citrus Bowl in OT?
- if Tennessee goes 9-3 and wins the Citrus vs Michigan or USC to go 10-3?

too many factors and games still left to play

I do know this talk of "we are about to go 6-6 and Heupel needs to be fired and we are going to lose to UK" is ridiculous.

We are right where we thought we would be at this point and everyone seems to forget that

Yeah we’ve got em right where we want em.

On a serious note, it’s not that black and white. Many of us didn’t expect win out this year, me included. It’s not the losses, it’s how we’re losing. Sloppy, uninspired, undisciplined football is the trend of Heup football. We could’ve easily won both games we’ve lost. That’s the hard part to watch. We haven’t played anyone yet that flat out just looked like a better team.

Heupel is too loyal to multiple underperforming coaches. Is this the offseason Banks takes a HC position?

I will agree with you on Tuesday. Need a few days to be mad, and that’s ok

It isn’t losing a game Tenn was expected to lose but actually having multiple opportunities to stay competitive and put themselves in a position to win but then *****ing the bed with either boneheaded OC calls or pathetic tackling on D and the ever present CJH bewildering clock management.

Well I’m certain Arkansas’s offense is for real.

To be honest, I would probably have felt better if we had lost by 7 or 10 rather than 17 or so points. That INT before half killed us. Hearing about we haven't won there since 2003 doesn't help the case as it is embarrassing.

I have 25 years of failure pint up in me that keeps getting impatient. OP is correct, this was always setup to be a down year.

The SEC title is not in front of us. A guaranteed playoff spot is not in front of us. At this point, a meaningless bowl game is all that is in front of us. The only question is which one.

It looks like you've stepped down from the ledge.

Good deal. You were scaring me last night, man. 😂

I still stand by my point that I don't think Alabama vs Tennessee is a real rivalry because they are so far ahead of us across the board that it is sad. They could literally look at us the way we look at Vandy.

No they do not, we are their biggest rival and several Bama players and Saban himself have said so

None of that explains The sloppiness und undisciplined play. Inability to tackle; stupid penalties; predictable play calls; horrendous clock management. All of these come down to coaching. These should improve as the season progresses. We however are regressing week to week
