Most Wanted Movie Remake?

Exactly. It’s never been done right. Think of what a filmmaker like Peter Jackson or Ridley Scott could do with such a great premise. Also agree that most movies remade don’t deserve a remake on premise alone. IKWYDLS was a turd twenty years ago and now it’s just a newer, shinier turd. My frustration is that the movies that are intriguing enough to revisit rarely get remade. Sadly, much of the issue is licensing. Studios own the rights to quality properties and sit on them to hold back competing studios.
I will say to that extent .... I'm surprised that during the superhero craze of the last 23 years, that none of the major studios have taken another crack at Flash Gordon. The obvious drawback is that the 1980 film was laughably horrendous. It had the worst special effects, the worst dialogue, the worst costumes, the worst sets, the worst direction and the worst acting in the history of science fiction / fantasy / adventure cinema, with a cheesy soundtrack by Queen thrown in for good measure.

The 1980 disaster is such a distant memory now, that it shouldn't be a hindrance anymore. Also, George Lucas wanted to do Flash Gordon in the 1970's but was outbid for the rights. It was after losing out on Flash Gordon, that he turned his full attention to making a little film called "Star Wars."

I thought it was pretty good. To each his own.
So even though there are too many remakes you still watch some and like them.

I just appreciate the original. I like Matt Damon but didn't care for him as Lebouf and Kim Darby was a better Mattie. It doesn't help that I'm just not a fan of Bridges period. I try to like him but I just don't.

"Wolf" with Jack Nicholson & Michelle Pfeiffer. It was a  bomb in 1994 due to lame script & poor supporting actors. How can two huge stars like Jack & Michelle stand it?
