We can all agree Hollywood has been in “retread” mode for years. I’m in favor of remakes when done well. It seems as though Hollywood never remakes the movies I want to see brought to life on screen. figured I’d put it up here for debate/discussion. Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.

some of my most desired remakes:
-Congo
-Island of Doctor Moreau
-Rosemary’s Baby
-Batman Vs. Predator (not a remake, but a comic that would be incredible on screen)
-Abyss
-universal soldier (start all over)
-spawn (Michael Jai White could still play lead)
-Demolition Man
-Remington Steele (series remake)
-League of extraordinary gentlemen

I'll have to ponder a bit more as I'm not a gigantic fan of remakes in general. Spawn is interesting as that seems more a case of a movie that really wasn't done justice in the first place. A really good take on Spawn might find some genuine interest.

Little Shop of Horror

Judge Dredd

Multiple Schwarzenegger movies from the 80's and early 90's even though quite a few of them have already had follow-up attempts (Total Recall, Running Man, etc.)

This. I cannot think of one that immediately jumps out to me.

I actually thought 2012's Dredd with Karl Urban was pretty good. I have to wonder if somebody might take a swing at a series based off that story before another movie attempt.

Dang, I completely forgot that was remade and I'm pretty sure that I have seen it, lol.
It makes sense, as that IP had potential.
I'll have to go back and re-watch it.

Nice offerings! I too appreciate quality original films, but if Hollywood insists on remaking stuff, what do we most desire? Assuming of course that it is done well. Many of my list were done poorly the first time.

I’d like someone to revisit the Big Trouble in Little China universe (not a remake) but an expansion upon the original.

Oooh, Big Trouble in Little China is a really solid recommendation. Good ol' Jack Burton.

RIP to the inflatable villain.

Ask and you shall receive

I'm a little iffy on what to make of a Waititi take on something that's supposed to be as dystopian as Dredd. He can work with dark themes (looking at you Jojo Rabbit) but I just don't know.

While we're on dystopian themes seems like the current zeitgeist might jive with a good modern take on Logan's Run.

I wouldn’t mind seeing an Outsiders remake.

Or even a series that really explores the greasers and soc’s and the contrasting dynamic between them.
