Most under-rated Vol

Shawn Bryson. Not only was the guy was lightning quick, but he was an EXCELLENT blocker, and a GREAT team guy. He could've played tailback, but chose to be a team player and sacrificed ALOT by playing fullback.

The other picks I like in this thread are Travis Stephens and Fred White.

Another good one is Eric Westmorland. Lots of guys were underrated when they were here during the Peyton Manning years and the national championship season. Main reason they were underrated was because they were overlooked by all the other great players on those teams.

Jeff Hall... '98 would not have been as magical as it was if it was not for Jeff Hall. Imagine Lincoln lining up to kick the game winner @ Syracuse or the go-ahead FG against Fla. Get my point!

I don't know if under-rated is the right word here but I have always thought that Tony Thompson never got his full due for what he contributed to UT...

Agreed, but Thompson did have the benefit of running behind a stellar group of OL. Coach Stuckey made road graders of our OL in those days.

Leo, I remember McCartney. I was in Neyland Stadium when KY came there. Two obnoxious girls in blue right behind me kept screeching in support of their qb, Go Fa-nu-zzi! Then McCartney blew him up and I think F went out of game or had happy feet rest of way, and the gals were quiet rest of game.
