Chance Hall and Jack Jones. Awesome how they stepped in as freshmen on the right side of the line.

Kamara is the only player other than Smith that had memorable game/season changing catches this year. But since Kamara is RB not sure why you even bring him up when the conversation was about WR's.
And Josh Smith was most memorable because very possibly he single handidly saved the season and Butch's job with that miraculous 4th and 10 TD catch to trigger comeback against Georgia (that play is also the most likely reason Miami and UGA both have their current HC's :)).

Well, you said Smith was the only guy who had any catches last year...I simply pointed out all the players who had more, including a RB who had many more.

Next, no, Smith and Kamara aren't the only players who had memorable catches....at all.

First off, without Pearson's season saving 4th down catch on his back vs Georgia, Smith's catch never happens. Secondly, while Josh's catch was HUGE vs Georgia, it was only one of 2 catches he had that day, for 40 yds....the TD Catch for 39 yds, and one other catch for 1 yard. Malone was the best, most consistent WR we had that day....he had 5 catches for 60 yards, including a 23 yd catch that converted a 3rd and 10 on the scoring drive right before half that made it 24-17.

In the Alabama game, Josh Smith had 2 big catches (the 11 yd TD and the 27 yd catch on the first play of the 4th qtr scoring drive this gave us the lead. But Malone had 2 important catches as well....the 34 yd catch on the same drive that set up the go ahead score by Hurd, and a very difficult 9 yard catch that he had to fight for in double coverage to convert a first down during the last drive of the game.

I also remember some other big catches during the season....Malone's 75 yard TD catch vs Ky, Pearson's 37 yd td catch vs SCar, Malone's TD catch vs Oklahoma, PWill's 49 yd catch vs WCar and his back shoulder catch and run vs Georgia, some big catches by Wolf and Ellis, even a nice 18 yd first down catch by Johnson vs Bama.

Why does everything have to become racial?

Great question. It's the mood of the country....a lot of people see EVERYTHING through a prism of race. I neither get it nor like it, but that's just the way it is.

It's less about people knowingly doing something and more about something that's ingrained in all of us. It's similar to the difference in adjectives sports announcers use when talking about white/black players. They don't even realize it. It's gotten to the point that you can have never known who a player was, hear a couple announcers talk about a player, and be able to guess his race. First time in a long time that I hear a white player being talked about as a freak athlete who is just ridiculously gifted is Christian McCaffrey.

Frankly I just find it funny. Before I opened the thread, I expected to see many people saying Smith and it was the first name mentioned. It used to be Cody Blanc. Before him, it was Zach Rogers. And Austin before him. That's just how it goes. Most of the time, people don't even realize it's happening.

seems like these threads always result in many people mentioning the one white WR that gets playing time

Damn, you mean Josh Smith is WHITE. OH GOD NO. Heaven forbid. I should have picked a black player just to stay pc and dishonest about my feelings.

That statement is racist as hell.

The truth for me anyhow is that JS IMMEDIATELY came to mind due to his big plays when they were needed. I deferred to the special teams without counting the players skin colors. GEEZ, can't we just all be VOLS and AMERICANS?

It's not just racial - PC police is out in full force looking for any reason to attack. Eight years of leftist leaning policies have only emoboldended them to be more agressive.

Ethan Wolf. He was a forgotten man left to help block most of the time. He did have important catches down the seam in key situations. I think he will have a breakout 2016.

He disappears too much during games. I don't know how many games I've watched where he made a great catch early on and then I never heard from him again the rest of the game.

My vote goes to Kendall Vickers. While Tuttle and McKenzie got all the hype this past year at the DT position, Vickers was SOLID in that middle for us this year!

Last year's team I think Brian Randolph.

Still on roster I'll give a shout out to Vereen.

I said MEMORABLE catches and stand by that (unless we include the RB Kamara who had more of them than any receiver). You bring up Malone - while I think he was the second best receiver he was unfortunatelly not used enough during many critical drives. Pearson certainly underperformed given the hype - but the blame for that and receivers struggling in general goes to Dobbs since he can't throw accurate deep ball which is Pearson's and North's strength. And let's not even talk about the criminal treatment of TE's and Wolf in particular by our OC and/or Dobbs - Wolf is very talented but hardly had any balls thrown even in his general direction.

It blows my mind. Political correctness needs to be thrown out the window. Quit digging into every little statement looking for something to cry about. People shouldn't be afraid to say what they think without offending someone. If everyone said what they meant and meant what they said, we would get a whole lot further.(in most cases anyway:))
