Most transparent, open administration in US History

Is Michelle Obama an elected official? Is Michelle Obama part of the Administration? Last time I checked...no. She is a spouse. She happens to be the spouse of the POTUS. But, she is still a spouse.

And, yes, like plenty of other First Ladies, she does have a platform. But, the platform does not entail an official position within the Executive Department. Sorry.

I'm terrified thinking about what kind of ads I'm going to start getting if I keep seeing your signature on the page.

If it puts your worries to rest, I'm getting ads for Bayer, Joss & Main (some furniture store), and something called Hubzu.

Is the press being barred from attending or just not attending.

Hard to say it's not an official trip of sorts given this

"Michelle Obama’s trip to China starting on Wednesday will be nonpolitical, the White House says, a 'people-to-people exchange' emphasizing the importance that both nations place on education.

If she is meeting with officials or equivalents there for the above stated goal then it is state business and reporters should not be barred.

If it is a vacay then no room for reporters but the WH should call it what it is.

If, as I assume, the taxpayers are footing one cent of the bill for her travel, expenses, and security, the media has the right to cover the story!

We are also paying for her mother to go!

How can there not be room for reporters? Her travel entourage is several hundred strong, is it not? Does she really need that many people following her around telling her that her ass doesn't look too big in that Vera Wang dress?

Another vacation that we have to pay for. I am so happy that my hard earned money can allow her to take these nice trips. Nothing wrong with this at all.

These trips are BS and millions of dollars are literally wasted on them. This is nothing new, first ladies have been wasting taxpayer money on their travels for a long time.

Taxpayers are paying for the White House residential complex, yet the media is not allowed in the president's bedroom.

No but she's the first wife of a sitting president to have a staff of servants paid for by taxpayer money.

I didn’t realize that one could just “drop in” unannounced on the President of China. What a coincidence that his schedule was clear and his wife happened to be on hand for the occasion. /s

If you were the president's wife, I'm sure you could meet and converse with all sorts of persons. Stay outraged, Mav.

Beijing hotel workers already 'fed up' with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot, $8,350-per-night suite inconveniencing 'pretty much everyone' -- and the first lady's mother is 'barking at the staff' | Mail Online

Michelle Obama and three of her family members are staying in a $8,350-per-night Beijing presidential suite, but despite a 24-hour butler and other perks that come with the lodging, her entourage has inconvenienced 'pretty much everyone' and made the hotel staff 'fed up,' a well-placed hotel staffer has told MailOnline.

But the Obamas' stay has already affected staff and guests at the hotel, with the Westin front-desk veteran alleging that Mrs. Obama's mother Marian Robinson has been 'barking at the staff since she arrived.'

'We can't wait for this to be over, to tell you the truth,' he said in a sudden hush. 'We entertain many important people here, but this has been, I think, very different.'

The first lady's press secretary, Joanna Rosholm, declined to comment.

We cant either
