Most reliable and fuel efficient car for long work commute

I drive 90 miles round trip daily 5 days a week to my work. What is a good gas saving car that also can endure alot of road miles and will last a long time?

Yea I got a Nissan Rogue with 95K I’ve heard they can have transmission issues knock on wood it’s running fine but I would rather have a Honda accord or civic

Corolla, Civic, or Elantra

Probably in that order. If you want something bigger then Camry, Accord, and Sonota (in that order)

So far the wife's Subaru is doing great. We bought it because a friend of ours has one with probably by now well over 200k miles on it with zero problems. Her last 2, a Honda Accord and GMC Acadia were nothing but trouble.

This is the exact car I bought a year and a half ago. I have zero problems with it. Paid $2K with 160K miles and get around that mpg. Took it hunting yesterday bc someone is borrowing my truck.

I vote Corolla. I had a 98 that broke a connecting rod and I drove it for a week after that. Bought a junkyard engine for it and kept going. It had over 215k when I sold it. It got around 37 on the highway, 5 speed.

Also look for a 2003-2007 Camry 4 cyl. Pretty comfy, cheap to buy, and will get you 30+ on the highway.

If you look at a Civic, make sure it wasn't owned by a person who decided to throw a bunch of speed parts on it, run it half to death, then put it back stock and is selling.

We rented one of these when we flew into New Hampshire. Drove it Saturday, Sunday, and a little Monday,, never dropped below half a tank. We did some driving, sight seeing, best car I've driven for gas mileage.

Not all models are effected. The wife has a Venue and it's not. The Elantra is though. Been looking at cars recently. The Sonata hybrid is high on my list and it isn't effected.

It definitely isn't. Mine is a V6, so it really isn't. I've been looking at cars recently and almost have myself talked into a hybrid, when I'm ready. The more research I do the more I lean toward a hybrid Camry. Toyota had about the only CVT transmission that's proven. I know several people that put 200k on one without having to change the battery too.

My 2019 Civic has been great (35mpg, with a combo of city/hwy driving). My parents have a 2016(?) Corolla that they've been happy with as well. When I was shopping for a used vehicle I made sure to check the Consumer Reports rankings by model/year, as there tends to be some variation noted from year to year. I.e., one year may have had fewer issues in Corollas whereas another year may have had fewer noted issues with Civics, etc. I did look pretty hard at the Subaru Legacies as well, but opted for the lower price tag and higher gas mileage at the time.

How much is interstate? That percentage can really influence the Hybrid discussion.
I don't know how long you've been making this drive, or how old you are, but the comfort and support of the driver seat for a healthy back should be as high on your list as the mpg. As someone whose driven 50-80K miles per year for years, a weeks missed work more than covers a 10 mpg difference.
