I think we can all agree that a 6-6 record would be a miracle finish. I would be thrilled with that finish, and it would give us an extra month of practice. Having said this, I think Ole Miss is the key game.

- I'm a realist and give us about 10% chance of winning this weekend at Williams-Brice.
- Memphis should be an easy win, despite being out west.
- Then comes Ole Miss. If we lose this game, we may fall apart. There is nothing left to play for. We lose this game, and we'll most likely lose to Kentucky, with at chance to lose at Vandy. BUT if we can win this game, the goal of 6-6 suddenly becomes very realistic. Vanderbilt should then be a win, and I like our chances against Kentucky if a bowl game is on the line, it's senior night, and in Neyland.

Just my thoughts.

You know when you put it this way I feel a little better about our chances of getting to 6-6.

Ole Miss isn't terrible though, I would probably take their roster over ours but Houston Nutt isn't the best coach and we do have them at home.

Would be a great win and Dooley's first SEC win!

Although I don't see it happening, a win against south carolina this weekend would be huge. It would allow us to stub our toe on one of those last 4 games and still make it to a bowl game. Winning 4 in a row with a team as young as UT's is going to be tough regardless of who they play.

Ole Miss and Kentucky are both playing better than the Vols. As of right now i'd say those are both likely losses. Don't sleep on Vandy either. As hard as it is to believe the Vols are right there with them. Pretty much a toss up game right now.

While I agree with what you are saying, the OP's point is that since it is very likely we lose this weekend the key to us still getting to 6-6 is the Ole Miss game. That is the one that will be the toughest to win at the time we play it. But if we can win that we could get some momentum going into Vandy and KY.:good!:

I like the way you think, OP.

I also think Vandy will be Vandy and find some way to lose to us again.

I agree. Ole Miss and Kentucky are both playing better than us. That's why I think if we could beat Ole Miss, it gives us a great deal of momentum. That momentum would lead to a victory over Vandy, and while Kentucky is still a better team right now, I like our chances at home with a bowl game on the line.

i really hope it plays out like that but with the youth and lack of depth we have, be really tough to string 4 wins together. if we had a bye week somewhere in the middle of those games i'd say we would have a better chance, but i've got no expectations for the rest of this season other than for us to compete and show recruits we're right there just need more depth (exactly what DE from gainesville said after AL catastrophe) so that they'll come.
when's basketball season start?

Yeah, I agree with that too. I don't really see us winning the last 4, but beating Ole Miss would definitely give us some serious momentum to maybe make it happen.

Exactly. I definitely wouldn't put money on us winning 4 in a row, but IMO the Ole Miss game is the key.

It would be very interesting to see how this young team responded to success. Say we play USCe close, then win the next 2 games and you never know how they might respond. They could play "lights out" and win the final 4 games. I would love for that to happen and win a bowl game and carry alot of momentum into the off season. This would also do wonders for recruiting IMO and the psychie for volnation.

TN and Ole Miss are neck and neck as far as stinking on defense in the SEC.
On offense in stats they are far better, but they've only played one top 10 team in Bama.
Win for TN. IMO
Kentucky can't handle success!

The key games left are Ole Miss and Kentucky. Beating OM doesn't ensure a Kentucky win but it would make me feel better. Even as bad as we are, we still hold a huge psychological advantage over Kentucky since they haven't won in 26 years.

Memphis no doubt should be a W. We lose that game and you might as well pack it in. Vandy is Vandy. By the time they play us they'll just want to put their season out of its misery.

I think the biggest deal of getting to 6-6 would be to get our team to a bowl and have EXTRA practice time.... these are invaluable days with a team with so much youth. Forget what terrible bowl we go to.... I think the coaching staff getting the time with the guys for more practice is what is the most vital thing going towards the offseason

The pivotal game may be this weekend.
Not likely, but if our defense can pressure Garcia like they did McElroy, he'll give it up.
Beat SC and we'd win out in a series of blood baths.
Not likely, but stranger things have happened.

If you're trying to get to 6-6 with six losses then whatever the next game is will be the pivitol game. Don't think for a second that UM and VU will pack it in against the Vols.

I disagree. i just want the Kentucky win. I don't care about 6-6. I don't care about south carolina. Just kentucky.

Correct. The Ole Miss game will be just another weekend unless they find a way to coach better and play better. I don't expect the Vols to win every week, but I do expect some signs of improvement. Last week was a 2nd half regression. SC, win or lose, is most important game right now.

I don't think they have announced it yet, but does anyone have an idea as to what time the Ole Miss game will be?

Masoli had his best game of the season last week. Watch out for Ole' Miss in Oxpatch this weekend. Auburn hasn't had to defend a spread offense all year. Ole Miss will be hard to beat by the time we get to that game -- they seem to be improving while we are trying to maintain the status quo.

I've been watching them and I don't see it.
They've played 2 ranked teams and lost to both, just like us.
Their defense is about as good as ours, maybe slower.
We'll be coming off a big confidence builder and they'll be coming to our house.
Even game or slightly in our favor.
IMO

UK, Vandy and Ole miss are all winnable games. UK's D is terrible and vandy has nothing.
