Just wondering who you all think has been or is the most overrated Vol? My top two would be O.J. Owens and Jabari Davis. O.J. Owens was supposed to be the next Ronnie Lott and Jabari "Peaches" Davis was supposed to be the next great running back at Tennessee.

I'm going with Jabari Davis, but wasn't Casey Clausen suppose to be the next peyton, sure he had a good year or two, but he also had a ton of talent around him.

Who was the running back that came here in the mid 90's that was supposed to be awesome and never played a down?

I heard it own Dave Hooker's talk show one morning. Him and John Adams were doing a show and making a "team" of overrated players and players that never played here for one reason or another.

well he's climbing his way out of that talk, he keeps playing like he is, he'll be one of the great qbs(w/ the exclusion of his soph yr)

Kelly Washington wasn't overrated. If anything he was underrated. In 2001 he was as good as any receiver in the country. He came in here as a QB and we moved him to WR. He was just way to cocky for his own good, but not overrated.

I would have to agree with Casey Clausen. He got a lot of credit when his success was owed to the talent around him who got very little credit. Many of those players are now in the NFL and Clausen is not.

At least Jabari Davis had a couple of decent games.

Brian Darden was the #1 tailback coming out of high school circa '95 or '96. He had a "bad attitude," and legend has it that Al Wilson laid the wood to him early in one of his first practices and asked, "Is this kid ready to play some football?" Needless to say, Darden was a monumental bust.

O.J. Owens was definitely a major bust, as well. Michael Munoz said that his highlight tape that was shown at a high school all-american gathering was absolutely amazing. Allegedly all the stud recruits that year asked to see the tape a second time because it was so good.

As I recall, Robert Boulware was one of the most highly touted DB prospects when he came out of high school also.

he had some good games toward the end of his jr. yr and could've had great games if randy sanders woulda gave him the ball more his sr yr before he was hurt, he can't b to overrated if he's n the nfl

I had forgotten about Robert Boulware.

Here is a few more that come to mind:

Mondre Dickerson
Brandon Jefferies
Daniel Brooks

Gosh, I guess this shouldn't fall into the overrated category but would as the biggest disappointment in my mind - Dustin Moore. He was going to be THE stud Tight End we needed in the early 90's but had problems off the field that got him kicked out of school. He should be finishing up a successful NFL career right about now.

Yeah Dustin Moore is a good one, I remember watching him play High School games at Greeneville.

But OJ Owens he was sp hyped up I thought he was going to be awsome.

That one guy from Mississippi thats the backup center now he was supposed the be awsome Josh McNeil, Frogg straight de-bo'ed his spot.
