Most overrated Vol

Your argument does not hold water on this two points.

1. The numbers he got in High School were not hyped they were facts.

2. He was not hyped enough to fit in the Bryce Brown Chris Donald category.

So fine he sucked in your mind, but not overated and his numbers they were mentioned in High School were not made up. Not sure why you even brought his name up in this thread. He is not my boy, I have no idea what he is doing. I just think you chose poorly when you say the most overated player in UT history. Eric Locke, no way.

Oh I don't think he's the most overrated in history. His name was just a springboard, because his is the first that comes to mind when I think of disappointing Vols. Maybe that's a better word for Locke...disappointing. I followed him in HS through the newspaper. I believe I already brought that up. I expected big things, and they never materialized.

BTW Bryce Brown's stats were facts too smart guy so your argument doesn't make any sense.

Ontario Smith and the Whizzinator!

Story for those who need the refresher...

MINNEAPOLIS -- The NFL was considering whether to penalize Minnesota Vikings running back Onterrio Smith after it was revealed he was caught at the Twin Cities airport with an elaborate contraption designed to beat drug tests.

A search of a bag Smith was carrying April 21 turned up several vials of dried urine and a device called "The Original Whizzinator," which includes a fake penis, bladder and athletic supporter. An NFL spokesman said using the device during a drug test would be a violation of league drug policies, but it wasn't clear whether there were penalties for possessing one outside of a testing situation.

Airport police took an interest in Smith's possessions because the urine powder looked like cocaine, according to a police report of the April 21 incident, first reported in Wednesday's Star Tribune. Smith told police the dried urine was for his cousin. Smith was briefly questioned and then released.

The stakes are high for Smith, who has two strikes against him under the league's substance abuse policy. He got the second last season and was suspended for four games but was still the team's top rusher. Another violation could earn him a yearlong suspension.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said a league investigation would determine whether there should be a penalty for simply possessing a device designed to beat a drug test. He said the device Smith was carrying wouldn't have fooled the NFL.

"Our program requires that players be visually observed from the front giving the sample with their shirts off and pants down to their knees, making the effectiveness of such an effort remote," he said in a prepared statement.

Airports and fake weiners......what a clown.

NO my argument does make sense, because your title is most overrated Vol. NOt most disappointing vol, I do not think Locke fits that either. Locke is not the most overrated Vol and since we agree on that...the end.

Brent Vinson is another 5 star that basically did nothing for us. Not as popular as Chris Donald as biggest bust but still didn't do much as a Vol.

No doubt. Looked promising after the switch to DB then never did anything.

I know Kelly Washington didn't have the greatest TN career but he does still hold the record for most receiving yards in a game by a UT receiver, right? Overrated, yes but at least he caught some balls for us.

Please untwist your panties...In the first post I said you can define it however you want. You can break it down into eras or even certain seasons.

Kelly Washington!

I moved out of Andy Holt towers and he replaced me in my "old room". I met the guy a few times when I would hang out with my old roommates between classes. They have some amazing stories about the guy and those stories are not flattering to him as a person (imho). I digress...

Whether it is correlation or causation I credit him for being the downfall of Fulmer. He could run like a horse and catch like one too...

Linebacker Horace Jernigan Jr.

General Neyland recruited him after spotting the young fellow tackling cattle in a traveling rodeo circus. Unfortunately, he never played a down after he was arrested stealing a mule from the Ag campus barn.

Okay, here is one and I am going to absolutely cringe after I type it.

Peyton Manning.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really like the guy but his legacy and his reality at UT were two very disparate things.

Never beat Florida, destroyed by Nebraska, one SEC championship, lost to Memphis. As a student at UT I used to watch him in games and notice that when he was pressured or sacked it felt like the team just gave up on the whole series.

The guy was very very good, no doubt, but if we are talking about overrated (the difference between hype and performance) I think he should be on the list.

I know this is blasphemy but I would rather have Tee Martin (who exceeded expectations) than P. Manning who never quite lived up to the (unfair?) hype that was placed on him.

My point is not to "diss" Peyton, I still get goose bumps when I watch his replays on TV. He is certainly one of my favorite Vols and I am immensely proud of him and his success in the NFL. My point was to say that there was too much UNFAIR hype installed around him at UT and his perception as a deity is perhaps a bit overplayed.

I accept that I am just one, in the minority.

I'm not a member of the mob, but I just assumed the entire board would attack you and burn you at the stake after that statement. I can only assume they are all so angry they are beating their wives over your comment. Give them a second to calm down, then the verbal onslaught will begin.
