That is beyond hilarious! Please type out a list of all the coaches you know for certain that can consistently beat Saban, Spurrier, Muschamp, Richt. Because you are going to probably have to beat atleast two of them EVERY YEAR after you throw in Miles, Mullen, Sumlin, and whoever Arkansas next coach will be. Besides, most UT fans like myself don't just want to be in the top 20. We want to consistently compete for SEC East Titles. By consistently, I mean winning 3 SEC Titles every 10 years. Right now, a SEC team can be in the top 20 and have 3 losses. You can't have 3 losses in the SEC and consistently compete for the SEC East!!!

I would have to see the 6th, 7th, 10th choices to answer honestly. IF we are throwing around 5+ million, I would say we could have 40 choices that would have us beating Spurrier, Richt, Mullen, and or Muschamp. We will struggle to find a guy who could have us beating Bama within the next 3-4 years. That will take time and alot of building. We need to win NOW to be able to recruit that type of talent though. Holgerson, Petrino, Strong, Peterson, Patterson, Bielema, and there are ALOT more. None of these guys make anywhere near 5 million. ALL of these coaches could have had a good chance at having this Vols team at 6-2 or 7-1. I get you will deny it and say who we can not get. The fact is, who knows who would come for Saban type money. Back before Dooley was hired I said Sumlin should have been the guy and we could have got him for less than 3 million. Hamilton went on the cheap and hired Dools. I hope Hart is willing to pony up the dough for a winner. We don't need Gruden to be a top 20 team. We need a coach who has proven he can coach up talent and has won some ball games. It's not hard to understand.

If you and Lebanon think Gene Chizik, Joker Phillips, Tommy Tubberville, Mike Leach, Mack Brown, or just anyone can do better than Dooley, you are sadly mistaken. That isn't the thread plot here. The thread plot is hire one of UT's top choices to permanently put an end to all this mediocrity. Or, stay in mediocrity until one of UT's top three can be hired. Why go through this in another 2-3 years? That is continuing to set UT back!!!

Why not just stop with that sentence? As stated, if UT gets one of it's top three choices. The choice will more than likely be a 5 million dollar man who has proven success to compete against the best! If so, get him yesterday! If not, don't do patchwork to get us to 5-3 in the SEC consistently!!! UT players, administration, and fans want a HC that can consistently lead us to a 6-2, 7-1, 8-0 SEC record!!!

Of course I would not consider Philips, or Chizik an option as they are losing coaches. GC is 36-36....my only criteria was a winning coach. I would argue that THIS Vol team could have been 6-2 or 7-1 with Tubbs. I think Leach would have us no worse than 5-3 and probably 6-2. With a good DC hire, 7-1. He would have our QB playing better and the WRs would actually catch the ball. I would not hire MB as he has fallen off alot of late. Much like Fulmer, he has lost some fire. Very poor examples and not a 1 on my list I provided.

This is who we fired. 2 losing seasons. All Fulmer needed was an AD to kick him in the pants, and explain to him that it had better improve, or he's history. I do not believe that CPF ever dreamed he would get fired/resign

Bama was irrelevant before Saban winning TWO OUTRIGHT SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 27 YEARS prior to SABAN's ARRIVAL!!! Yes, that is right! The mighty crimson won ONLY 2 SEC Championships in 27 years!!! Bama tried for 27 years to get the right coach. They finally got theirs. You people amaze me. You think anyone can just walk in the door and compete in the SEC. It isn't going to happen. That is why US RATIONAL FANS who are tired of mediocrity too know UT better keep Dooley unless another Saban, Miles, or Spurrier is hired!!!

This is one of the most intelligent post on here. Dooley doesn't develop out players to their potential, and he doesn't win. It's no secret and is obvious to potential recruits and their families. Who would send their kid here if they even think he may have a career in the NFL. I truly am thankful for the players that we have. But every single one of them have been cheated. They haven't been developed. It's not that Dooley did it on purpose. HE IS NOT CAPABLE! I am sure you all know that stats that back this statement up. I will not regurgitate them to you. There is no good that can be done by keeping Dooley and absolutely no harm to come by letting him go!

Fact remains that the team is 10 times better then when he took over... and has made some major strides from just last year.

We average 160 a game on the ground.. and that stat comes after the toughest part of our schedul

I can say with complete certainty that Dooley is not capable of getting this team over the hump. We're almost three full seasons into Dooley's tenure and he has yet to beat a single team of significance. And along the way he has compiled a dubious list "firsts" for our football program. I really hope Hart isn't content with Dooley's performance.

Exactly. Crazy to people defend him and say he needs more time. I'd be ok with him if:

1) He beat anybody Ranked / GA, SC, FL, AL ETC
2) He didn't get outcoached by JOKER with a WR playing QB

It's over for him at the end of the year at the latest.
