Most Memorable Game In Neyland Stadium

The Georgia game this past year will always be remembered as well. It had the feel of the "good times" and for a moment it felt like nothing had ever changed

I wish I had gone to that game but someone had called shotgun on the extra ticket already. That and I certainly wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near that close. Watched it live on tv though.

VolNation what is your MOST memorable game in Neyland Stadium? It may be your first game ever in Neyland, a monumental upset or highest record attendance?

:fireworks: :td: :3cheers: :number1: :fireworks:

2001 for me :dance2:

The first game against Penn State back in the early 70's. The national media, such as it was back then, gave UT no chance of beating mighty PSU. So to prove it was no fluke we beat them again the next year.

The 13-0 Tennessee win over Vanderbilt in 1930. Bobby Dodd was hell on wheels and was named All American because of this game.

1st game -- 1975 vs. Colorado St. (28-7, Vols)

Most memorable -- 1982 vs. Alabama (35-28, ended that 11-game Tide win streak and started the Vols on a 4-game win streak against Bama), 1992 vs. Florida (that 2nd half monsoon has to be the most fun I've ever had in the rain), 1998 vs. Florida ("Pandemonium Reigns!" Possibly the biggest win in Neyland Stadium history; wish I could have been in the stadium to see it)

Notre Dame 1990. They were loaded and we almost won! It was cool to see rocket, Bettis, Watters, culver, Brooks, Zorich and Stonebreaker... And more. I was a freshman so I was a kid in sports heaven.

I've been to better games, and I'm sure I'll go to more great games, but tops for me will always be my first: 2007 Georgia. Everything was so surreal and the way we whupped em made it even more special. I will never forget going to meet up with my brother in-law at the 1st-2nd quarter change and as dad and I walked down the ramp, I hear the stadium roar for the first time as the first play of the 2nd, Lucas Taylor lobbed it downfield to LaMarcus Coker who scored. That ended up being my dad's last game. That will always be my most memorable.

Other good games/memorable moments in Neyland I've been to:
2010 Oregon (or, more accurately, the rain delay and both sides chanting "F*** LANE KIFFIN!")
2011 Vandy
2013 Georgia (so close...)
2013 South Carolina
2013 Auburn (I may not remember that one correctly...or at all...)

Side note, CFA kickoff in Atlanta was REALLY fun as well, Music City Bowl...not so much......

Man, I feel young reading this thread...

That 1982 Bama game was louder than any game of the Fulmer era in my opinion.

Neyland Stadium discovered its voice in the 1970 Florida game. The return of Dickey was a passionate blood letting in more ways than one.
Yes, I know Doug Dickey and his son both came back to The Hill and did some good things ... but I still consider him the highest form of scum and traitor.

Arkansas '98. I remember telling my dad that we should go ahead and go to beat the traffic, and he insisted that you never leave before the game's over. Then the fumble happened.. never left a game early since.

Honestly, mines gotta be last years USC game. I've grown up in a shi***y era if UT football so I've seen more beatdowns than victories.

That game was crazy solely cause of Marquez Norths catch. It felt good to finally beat a ranked team again.

Right there with ya

2006 against Cal is my best memory. Great game plus it was the first game my wife and I attended together and her first ever. We were seniors in high school. Sat on the absolute top row of PP. I'll never forget Hardesty's incredible run in that game breaking tackles like a mad man!

85 Auburn
90 Florida - Dale Carter kickoff return to start 2nd half is my favorite play to ever see at Neyland
98 Florida
98 Alabama - Peerless Price kickoff return
2001 LSU - Kelly Washington went wild
2004 UNLV - first game for my seven year old son and Ainge and Shaeffer were awesome

Not so much to cheer about in the last few years. I feel sorry for younger Vol fans. I hope CBJ can turn it around. Last year versus SC was awesome, but I was unable to attend.

I feel bad for you younger Vol fans. All you have are stories from us old-timers about the way it used to be.

1985 vs. Vandy. We sealed the SEC Championship that day, and I got engaged to my wife in Section C row 15. Great time and I still get a winning feeling thinking about that game.

I envy those of you that have been around since the 60's, 70's, 80's, and early 90's.

I feel like a new fan being only 23 years old.

You are a new fan dude.

Glad to see someone post the 1990 Notre Dame game. That was a good one.

The 84 Bama game doesn't get as many votes as the 82 game but it was equally exciting.

The 6 OT game with Arkansas.

Thanks for the link!

Our honeymoon was to the Sugar Bowl vs. Miami. My Wife got sick from some bad food on the trip.

She sure missed a great game.

Short engagement...NICE!
