Ok, this thread is for dropping links to sites you have discovered, stumbled across or fell into..that you consider so cool, different, interesting or bizarre..you just HAVE to share them with Volnation!

One Rule: they can't be common or well-known. As the title says, I'm looking for off-the-beaten-track stuff here...

So I'll get the ball rollin' with these 2

pandora.com

I can't link this one because it's only available in the U.S. (I'm in Germany right now), and it's not super well-known, but it IS quite cool. You can supply any song or artist, and the site will build you a personalized radio station that plays continuous music only of that style or general sound. It's a great way to discover new music you might like that is similar to music you already like.

From the bizarre category, I stumbled across this one today. Check out the feature article, "Death Lizards from Outer Space."

this one is too much. it's a site encouraging people to donate to catastrophe relief efforts, but then look at the page link at top in green, far right..

Here's a couple that I really like that may not be as well known.....

Welcome to WishbookWeb.com

This site has old Christmas Wish Books in their entirety. I was a young kid in the early-mid 80s and fondly remember nearly memorizing the Wish Books when they would come in late September-early October. Before the fricking internet there was Wish Books and they were awesome.

Retro Junk | Hey I remember that

Another website that can take me back to my childhood. Just an assortment of really cool stuff on the site. I can burn 2-3 hours just goofing around on that site.

Personas | Metropath(ologies) | An installation by Aaron Zinman

This one is pretty cool. Had it brought to my attention in a Data Mining course. Its a project that an MIT team put together to kind of open up the black box that is Data Mining and give you a little look at how it works. What happens is you put in your name, or someone else's, and it uses a specialized web search to show how large of a web presence the name has in each of their 32 different data categories.
