Most impactful play you witnessed at Neyland

Of course the Stoerner fumble is clearly number one due to the clear impact on the National Championship.

The 1990 season was the most frustrating year of Tennessee football for me simply because I felt that the 1990 team was one of the most talented teams in Tennessee history. The 91 and 92 NFL drafts included 18 Tennessee players with three players taken in the top 12 in 1991. That year, 1990, we had two plays that seemed to be season/history turns.

Tennessee is tied 6 - 6 with Alabama and going for a game winning field goal with less than one minute to go. We fumble the snap and the ball is recovered about 20 yards back. Alabama runs one play, loses yardage, then kicks game winning field goal.

Tennessee is mounting an epic comeback against Notre Dame. We recover an onside kick, drive to tie with less than a minute to go and Andy Kelly throws an interception in the end zone.

2004 James Wilhoit game winning FG against Florida. I was a sophomore at UT, and I was in the student section. It was complete and utter chaos after that play. Everyone was jumping up and down in the bleachers. The person behind me slipped, and used me to break his fall. This lead to a domino effect, as I bumped into the person in front of me, and so on and so on, about 4 or 5 rows in front of me. But no one cared. We were having way too good of a time.

Stoener stumble without a doubt. I was twelve at the time and my neighbor had an extra ticket and took me. After the turnover on downs they got up to leave and I begged them to stay. They couldn't say no to a little kid. Greatest sports moment I have seen live. Don't think anything will ever top that unless the Titans win a super bowl (if they make one, I'm going, regardless where it's played).

Reigning National Champion LSU's Heisman winner Billy Cannon was trying to make a two-point conversion late in the game to get a win over the lackluster Vol's in 1959. The three Vol's who stopped him got that memory forever imbedded with a Sports Illustrated Cover that week. I was standing in the student section on the aisle entry midway up where it says VOLS on the fifty-yard line! There might be more meaningful plays in Vol history, but I didn't see them!

Stoerner fumble, Wilhoit FG, but one more- 1996 Terry Fair late INT vs Bama. They were about to score and the pick of Kitchens got us the W. Made it a sweet two in a row. It was a cool crisp night and the crowd was electric.

Palardy game winning FG against top 10 South Carolina. Sat just off to the left of the goal post. So much fun.

For me watching Chuck Webb limping off after a tackle. I was at the game. He was never the same after the surgery and rehab. What could have been? The best back TN has ever had and never got to show it. JMO.

Freshman H. Walker running over Bill Bates. Neyland went quiet for a moment.
Maybe it's because I was in high school and didn't have a ton of other reference points, but Herschel seemed like Superman to me...an unstoppable force. Not sure there's been any other RB as good in college...maybe Bo. Think Chuck Webb could have been...

Clint Stoerner fumble against My Vols championship season and being one of about 2/3 fans that never gave up and same year Jeff Hall field goal against Gators. Pretty impactful.

I was at that game as a 16 year old. It was my first UT game and my Dad decided to go the day of the game. I remember seeing all of the Vols fans leaving but we stayed. When the stumble fumble happened I had a box of popcorn that I emptied in the air all around me.

Peyton’s first start for the W against Wazzu in 1994.

Jay Graham’s icing run on Bama in 1996.

Jamal Lewis vs. UGA in ‘97.

Peerless Price 100+ yard kickoff return vs Bama in ‘98.

Tennessee eating Aaron Rogers and Marshawn Lynch alive in 2006.

Florida 2016: Jennings TD against Tabor to give us our first lead 24-21. On the ensuing possession, Austin Appleby throws an int to Todd Kelly on the very first play.

I knew after those two plays that the game had officially turned and it would finally be our day.

In honor of the OP's avatar of Spurrier... Marquez North's helmet catch against a ranked gamecocks team. Led to our first big home win since at least Kiffin's tenure. And Spurrier quit right after because of a UT defeat (to Butch no less). Don't forget his last home game in the swamp was a loss to UT. My hatred runneth deep... GBO
