Most Frustrating Tennessee Loss You Remember?

2005 Notre Dame. Seconds to go before half time. Ball deap in Tennessee territory. Old conservative Phil is surely going to kneel and go into the locke.... Ainge drop backs to pass!? OL, for God sakes block someone! Ainge slammed shoulder first into ground. Didn't recover for 2 seasons. Ushered in the second Clausen administration.:banghead2:

I missed that game, I was at Clement having sex with my girlfriend...:dance2:

The 9-6 Bama game. Early 90's....I was about 13 or 14.

This one sticks out--its the only loss that I cried at the end.

Check out the 80's under Majors. Ties to Army, UCLA, Georgia Tech and anybody else he could manage to salvage a tie with. Losses to Army, Rutgers, Oregon State, Boston College, Duke, Washington State, the trifecta in 92 against Arkansas by 1, Bama and South Carolina by 1.

Other than 2008 and Memphis, most of Fulmer's 'unacceptable' losses are to Florida, Georgia and LSU. I don't think we recognize how good we've had it until we don't have it anymore.

That was one of the bigger arse whippings that I can recall...from start to finish, just humiliating.

1990 Alabama game 6-9 loss
1993 Alabama game 17-17 tie
1995 Florida game 37-62 loss
1996 Florida game 29-35 loss
1997 Florida game 20-33 loss
2006 Alabama game 17-41 loss
2009 Alabama game 10-12 loss

That's a pretty good list
Throw In the two SECCG against LSU ffor good measure

Can only pick one? Oh, and the 2003 UGA game, that was at the end of the first half, UT was driving to take the lead then fumbled at the goal line, it was run back for a TD, then UT just fell apart after that.

Without a doubt the worst feeling i have ever felt at a game. I will never forget the way everyone at Neyland was like WTF and so doubfounded during half time.

1.01 LSU(SEC CG)
2.09 Bama (was there)
To the OP and all vols- The Gaffney "catch" was a little overblown imo, it was 2nd down!!!!

93' - @ Bama: Everyone in the stadium knew when Palmer went under center what play he was going to run. The UT DC coordinator at the time didn't.

'95 - @ Florida: Attended this game with friends, Manning 1st play from scrimmage I believe was a completed pass deep in to UF territory. 2nd half was completely different after the rain and humidity went off the meter. First game of many that revealed Chavis was inept at making 2nd half adjustments.

'89 - @ Bama: Undefeated prior to this game and once again, Majors just can't seem to beat Bama.

'92 - Arkansas: Majors first full game back on the sidelines after his surgery. Playcalling that day was atrocious. No reason we should have lost to a 3-7-1 team in Knoxville that day. The defense made Barry Lunney look like a superstar that day.

My immediate boss then was a HUGE Husker fan...it was awful hard being in the office with him for a few days.

Yes, sure, Florida might've ended up scoring on 3rd or 4th down, but you just don't know...time was low too.

LSU '01 SEC Championship. Also...not a game but Peyton losing the Heisman to Charles Woodson really sucked! The only top 10 school of all time with out one.

I hated the fact that Tennessee didn't beat Florida Peyton's senior year. He would have been Heisman. That frustrates me. Still should have been Heisman, but this would have sealed the deal.

I have not forgiven JM for that season. JM was back for the LSU game the week before the Arkansas game to take them to 5-0. The Arkansas game was a horrible game. It started the 0-3 stretch that knocked TN out of the first SECC game.

The one that sticks out to me was the South Carolina game. SC was a 2-5 team coming into that game. They let SC dominate them all day. Mose Phillips breaks his famous run, only to have the 2 point conversion stuffed.

That has to be one of the greatest runs in UT history all for not!!!!!

2000 UT vs. UF

Tennessee has a lead late in the game 23-20 over Florida. Florida drives down in the red zone. Jesse Palmer throws a pass to Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney "catches" the ball, and it is almost immediately slapped away by a UT cornerback. Ref calls touchdown. Vols lose.

2003 (I think) UT vs. UGA

This one is hazy to me, someone clear it up. Tennessee fumbles/throws a pick late in the game and UGA takes it to the house to win.

1990 Alabama loss for me. It is the day I stopped letting losses upset or depress me at all. I figured out, nothing I did or no way that I felt would change outcomes.

I want to win games but if they don't happen, it is what it is.

1)'90 Bama - I still puke when I think about that. We were ranked #3, had just spanked Florida, Bama had lost to memphis the week beofore.
2) '91 Bama - when will the personal hell end

3) 93 florida - Willy Billiams fumbled opening kickoff of 2nd half, never recovered, we were a better team.

4) '99 Florida - one of worst losses in Fulmer era, got severely out-coached, had a chance to make a statement on national tv @ 8pm, we were a MUCH better team.

5) '00 florida- AJ Sucks

6) '01 Georgia - never gone from such a high to such a low, so quick. SPECIAL TEAMS!!

7) '05 Florida - we were a better team that was not prepared to play, had a horrible game plan, a chance to welcome Urban to the sec the hard way, and we totally blew it. I remember seeing cbs show Jayson Swain sitting on bench after the game thinking "did that really just happen".

....And of course the '01 SEC champ game, that still sickens me.
