Most Frustrating Tennessee Loss You Remember?

1-Giving up 15 in the 4th Q to LSU in the 01 SEC Championship

2-Driving to win and Ainge throws a pic in the 07 SEC Championship

3- Being on a great roll last year ready to win 9 games and a great bowl bid. Made nat'l news with the robbery and got TRASHED by Ole Miss.

I agree with number one and two, third would be lose to wisconsin in bowl game when the fumble was ran all the way back for a score. That hurt.

I remember sitting in a 15 dollar a night hotel room outside Denver watching the Arkansas game. We did not lose that game but I will remember where I was and the weather outside the rest of my life when the funble happened. And yes, if your backpacking across the us you too can find 15 dollar a night motels.

1990 vs Bama.we were ranked 4th they were not ranked. We lost 9 - 6. The number 2 team lost the same day we could have been in the drivers seat for a NC. We were stacked with talent but Johny couldn't get us past BAMA again...and the 01 LSU SEC championship game ranks 2nd.

2007 Florida loss. Broke the camels back and hit home that the foundation of our program rotted to it's soul.

2000 UT vs. UF

Tennessee has a lead late in the game 23-20 over Florida. Florida drives down in the red zone. Jesse Palmer throws a pass to Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney "catches" the ball, and it is almost immediately slapped away by a UT cornerback. Ref calls touchdown. Vols lose.

2003 (I think) UT vs. UGA

This one is hazy to me, someone clear it up. Tennessee fumbles/throws a pick late in the game and UGA takes it to the house to win.

Have to agree of the Non-call game vs UF*****n gators

That was my first game ever. 8 years old.

Two losses that make me sick was te '06 Florida game. When we picked Chris Leak off for a TD and woulda ended the game. Then we get a TERRIBLE roughing the passer call. '06 LSU game makes me sick when Russell Fumbled the ball with I think 2 minutes left but no call!! Ruined our chances for a BCS

Was that the one Crompton played?

Third Saturday in October 2005 season. 6-3 Loss to Bama. Boring game to watch with a bad ending...

you guys picked "good" ones (lsu/ainge killed me). but this bama game is the one i was going to add to the mix. tough season in general, and we really seemed snakebit. we were driving for the winning score late in the game and the fullback (i can't remember his name, but he was a reliable ball carrier) fumbled into the end zone. man that was depressing.

i don't remember the year, but 8-10 yrs back (i think maybe p. price was still with us?) we played penn state in a bowl game - started off like we were going to beat them to a pulp, and then everything fell apart - seemed like on three successive possessions we fumbled or got intercepted - in one case iirc the ball popped up in the air and they ran it back untouched for a td.

1999 UF. 2000 UF. 2006 UF. 2001 LSU. 2006 LSU. 2009 Alabama...... Of those games I'd have to say the 2006 Florida game was the most frustrating. Watching Tebow run the same damn short run play over and over and having it work every time was sickening. Can you imagine if we won that game and Ainge never got hurt? We'd have been 8-0 after the South Carolina game and then who knows... That was only the beginning of my frustration with UT football during my time here though.

These two are pretty much interchangeable for me.

The tie against bammer in the early 90's was almost as frustrating as one of these losses. After so many years...

This. Talk about the worst game...Anderson's fumble through the endzone was the most depressing ending to an awful game I had ever seen in sports.

1990 Bama game - That was supposed to be our year to finally beat them.
2001 UGA game - I cursed Fulmer to no end after that game. Squib kick moron.

2001 LSU - Meh. I wasn't surprised.
2000 Florida - Typical.

2005 Notre Dame. Seconds to go before half time. Ball deap in Tennessee territory. Old conservative Phil is surely going to kneel and go into the locke.... Ainge drop backs to pass!? OL, for God sakes block someone! Ainge slammed shoulder first into ground. Didn't recover for 2 seasons. Ushered in the second Clausen administration.:banghead2:
